We’re looking for talented team members who want to Dream. Do. Grow. with us. Toyota does not offer support or sponsorship of job applicants for employment-based visas or any other work authorization for this role now or in the future. You should not apply for this role if   you will   require Toyota to assist with immigration support or sponsorship now or in the future.   This position is based out of Toyota North American Headquarters in Plano, TX   Who   we’re   looking for   Toyota’s Digital Innovations organization is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Software Engineer focused on building AI-enabled products.   The primary responsibility of this role is to build product applications alongside AI — rapidly prototyping, experimenting, and shipping full-stack solutions that solve   real business   problems.   You'll   operate   as a hands-on product builder: writing the code, shaping the experience, and iterating in tight loops with product, design, and business partners. At the core, you are a strong software engineer who uses AI in nearly everything you do to become an even better one — with real conviction about the role of AI in building products, and the curiosity and persistence to drive work to completion.   Reporting to the Digital Innovations Product Strategy Manager, this role supports the Digital Innovations   objective   to deliver what matters most to our customers, when, where, and how they want it. By working smarter and faster,   we're   building a connected, customer-first enterprise that grows sales, drives revenue, and sets the pace for the future of Toyota and Lexus.   What   you’ll   be doing     Build and iterate on prototypes and production features across the full stack, using AI tools to move fast — partnering with senior engineer s   on the path to production    Use AI as a force multiplier in your own workflow to move faster, experiment more, and turn ideas into working software in days, not months    Partner closely with product and design to translate ambiguous problems into intuitive, well-crafted user experiences — bringing a builder's eye for what feels right    Integrate applications with enterprise data sources and APIs, wiring up retrieval, agents, and inference pipelines that work reliably in the real world    Run experiments, measure what works, and iterate quickly — bringing a hypothesis-driven mindset to everything you build    Learn the operation before building it — go to where the work happens, partner with domain SMEs and business owners, and ask questions first so you solve the right problem, not just a buildable one    Build in the quality controls that make AI reliable in production — evaluations and prompt-regression testing, hallucination and output-quality measurement, latency and token-cost management, guardrails, and PII and data handling    Use AI coding tools (for example,   GitHub Copilot,   Codex etc. ) as a core part of how you work — and help raise the team’s fluency with them as they evolve    Collaborate with enterprise tech and security partners to move POCs into production environments    Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI landscape and bring fresh techniques, tools, and patterns into the team's   day-to-day work   What success looks like (first 90 days)   By day 30:   you’ve   gone to   gemba   on at least one business problem, mapped the current process with the domain team, and have a working prototype in front of users    By day 60–90: you ship a   demoable   build   roughly every   two weeks against named business problems, with evals and cost/latency instrumented so quality is observable    You partner with senior engineering and enterprise security to move at least one prototype onto the path to production    How   we’ll   evaluate this role   Software engineering fundamentals — code quality, system design, and shipping reliable full-stack features    AI integration depth — the production-grade 20%: evals, guardrails, retrieval and agents done reliably, cost and latency control    Product judgment — turning ambiguous problems into something useful, with an eye for craft    Ways of working — goes to   gemba , listens first, and builds trust across a blended (fusion) team    AI-tool fluency — demonstrably uses AI tools to multiply their own output    Qualification Section   What you bring      3+ years of professional software engineering experience with   a track record   of shipping production applications    Hands-on experience building with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock, or similar) — including prompt engineering, function/tool calling, and RAG architectures    Strong   proficiency   in at least one modern web framework (React, Next.js, or similar) — comfortable across the stack    Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and modern deployment practices   An eye for design and product craft — you care how things look, feel, and flow, not just whether they work   A bias for action and experimentation —   you'd   rather ship a rough prototype and learn than debate the perfect spec   Range and a strong technical mindset — equally comfortable operating as a full-stack builder one day and tackling deep engineering problems the next
