We are looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team in Gdańsk! As a Senior Payroll Specialist , you will own end-to-end payroll execution for an assigned scope of countries in a region and serve as the subject matter expert on the local team in Poland. You will act as the key liaison between the company and third-party payroll providers, and as the trusted local reference for the remote leadership team based in Costa Rica — supporting day-to-day coordination, knowledge sharing, and team alignment without direct people management responsibilities. You will also drive process improvements and leverage AI tools to enhance payroll operations. About the Role In this opportunity as a Senior Payroll Specialist , you will: Own the full payroll cycle for assigned countries, ensuring all inputs are delivered to third-party payroll providers accurately, on time, and in the required formats. Serve as the primary point of contact with external payroll vendors, validating outputs, resolving complex discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with established processes and statutory requirements. Act as local point of contact in Poland for the remote leadership team, supporting follow-up on deadlines, documentation, and day-to-day execution — without direct people management responsibilities. Support onboarding and knowledge sharing for other team members in Poland, serving as a go-to resource for process guidance and complex payroll questions. Escalate risks, blockers, and operational issues to the remote leader in a timely and structured manner. Partner with HR, Accounting, and Treasury to ensure accurate data exchange and proper general ledger alignment. Perform and review complex payroll reconciliations, including third-party payments and GL-related activities. Support internal and external audit processes by providing payroll data, documentation, and analysis. Lead or contribute to payroll improvement projects and process standardization initiatives. Leverage AI tools and automation to drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in payroll operations. About You You’re a fit for the role of Senior Payroll Specialist if you have the following required qualifications: English fluency required. University or college education preferred; high school diploma required. 4+ years of payroll experience in a multinational or regional environment. Experience working with third-party payroll providers and managing end-to-end payroll processes across multiple countries. In-depth knowledge of payroll compliance, statutory requirements, and best practices. Demonstrated ability to resolve complex payroll issues and provide guidance to peers. Advanced Excel skills; experience with payroll reconciliations and GL activities. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence without authority. #LI-IG1 What’s in it For You? Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For Poland, the base compensation range for this role is 84,000 PLN - 156,000 PLN. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
