The role serves as a subject matter expert for complex medical device technologies and partners closely with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable medical device ecosystems. Purpose The Bioengineering Analyst III is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for advanced technical support, system optimization, lifecycle planning, and strategic contributions to the clinical engineering program. This role serves as a subject matter expert for complex medical device technologies and drives improvements in device reliability, compliance, cybersecurity, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Advanced Device Support & Technical Leadership Lead troubleshooting and resolution of highly complex device failures Serve as an escalation point for critical technical issues Provide expert guidance on specialized and high-risk clinical equipment Develop technical standards and best practices Program Oversight: Maintenance, Compliance & Readiness Oversee preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing programs for assigned device categories or departments Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards Lead audit preparation activities and support regulatory inspections Evaluate and improve maintenance strategies and operational readiness Strategic Asset Lifecycle Management Lead lifecycle planning and capital replacement strategies Analyze failure trends, utilization data, and total cost of ownership Partner with leadership on capital budgeting decisions Drive standardization initiatives across the healthcare system Integration, Connectivity & Cybersecurity Lead efforts related to device integration, interoperability, and connectivity Support advanced troubleshooting of networked medical devices Partner with cybersecurity teams to assess and mitigate risks Guide patching strategies and vulnerability remediation efforts Vendor & Contract Strategy Evaluate and recommend service models, including insourcing and outsourcing options Lead vendor performance reviews and escalation management activities Provide technical leadership during contract negotiations and vendor discussions Process Improvement & Innovation Identify and implement process improvements across clinical engineering operations Lead initiatives to improve equipment uptime, reduce costs, and enhance patient safety Support adoption of new technologies and digital solutions Mentorship & Team Leadership Mentor and train Bioengineering Analyst I and II team members Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer Support onboarding and professional development activities Marginal or Periodic Functions Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer Mentor and train Bioengineering Analyst I and II team members Support onboarding and skill development activities Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure Perform related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Technical Expertise (SME-Level) Serve as a recognized subject matter expert in biomedical systems and complex device ecosystems Diagnose and resolve highly complex technical and integration issues Apply deep understanding of device interoperability, networking, and cybersecurity considerations Advise on system architecture, device selection, and technical standards Anticipate emerging technology impacts and prepare the organization accordingly Problem Solving Apply advanced analytical thinking to diagnose systemic issues and identify root causes Develop innovative solutions to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency Lead resolution of high-impact or enterprise-wide technical issues Balance short-term fixes with long-term strategic improvements Decision Quality Make high-impact decisions related to capital planning, risk mitigation, and service strategies Use data, trends, and cost analysis to guide recommendations Evaluate complex trade-offs between operational, financial, and clinical priorities Influence decision-making across leadership and cross-functional teams Manages Complexity Navigate highly complex environments involving multiple systems, vendors, and regulatory requirements Integrate technical, operational, and strategic considerations into solutions Lead initiatives that span departments and care settings Maintain accuracy and clarity in high-pressure or ambiguous situations Collaborates / Influences Build strong partnerships with clinical leadership, IT, cybersecurity, and executive stakeholders Influence decisions without direct authority Facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholder groups Drive consensus on technical standards and process improvements Drive for Results Lead initiatives that improve uptime, compliance, and operational performance Ensure timely execution of critical projects and system improvements Hold self and others accountable for high-quality outcomes Maintain focus and effectiveness during critical incidents Developing Others Mentor Analyst I and II staff through coaching and technical development Share knowledge and establish best practices Support onboarding and skill-building activities Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering
