Maintenance Operations, a branch of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Division, provides comprehensive maintenance services in support of the University’s operations. Our teams provide a comprehensive array of qualified services, backed by our licensed and certified technicians, to this end, we offer opportunities for continuing education, as well as various stipends for additional trade licenses. Our team of trained trade experts are well-matched for the university’s operational and maintenance needs, whether the facility is a brand new laboratory or our iconic Tower. This is a 40 hours a week, five 8-hour days, or possible four 10-hour days with schedule to be determined with supervisor. Some overtime, evening, weekends and holidays possible. Purpose Perform and document journey-level carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, or alteration of buildings. Responsibilities Repairs and installs emergency exit hardware, ceiling tile, walls (sheet rock, masonry, etc.), doors, automated doors, and signage using hand and power tools such as circular saw, drill, hand tools, router, table saw, sander, grinder, nail guns, and other equipment. Also, uses meters and specialty tools. Generates material lists and organizes required materials for efficient work. Keeps accurate records of materials used and maintains daily time reports to efficiently complete work and document details of the functions performed. Performs preventive maintenance on doors and associated hardware as well as other assigned systems. Assists other team members in the accomplishment of shop goals related to key performance indicators.   Participates in the maintenance and operations of the shop. Cleans and maintains tools and equipment used to perform duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment. Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met. Works independently and as a team member. Assists other team members as necessary with training in work techniques to accomplish team goals in a safe and timely manner.  Inspects the work of others for conformance with specifications, requirements, and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations. Participates in the On-Call program. Perform other related functions as assigned. Work is performed in accordance with normal trade practices and is inspected for conformity to standards, quality and quantity by journey-level employees or supervisor. Attends staff meetings, safety training and meetings. May drive University vehicles. If driving University vehicles, must maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4. Required Qualifications High school graduation or GED.
