Utility Computing (UC) AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. S3 Index Routing - S3 Web Server provides the frontend API services to our public customers. As the next layer in our architecture, S3 Index provides the reliable and scalable key-value metadata services for objects stored in S3. The Routing services sit directly at the frontend of Index, and is the critical junction where every request lands first, before being directed to the right destination. Formed from two critical charters - Routing APIs and Caching & Scalability, we own the full routing stack: from handling and directing customer requests through intelligent routing mechanisms, to caching frequently accessed keys, throttling to protect downstream services, and ensuring data consistency across Index. This empowers us to deliver a cohesive, end-to-end customer experience — reducing latency and improving reliability.
