Position Overview: As a Firmware QA Engineer, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive test strategies, complex test setups, and automated validation frameworks for Echo’s medical devices. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of embedded systems by creating high-quality test infrastructures and collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the full product development life cycle. Key Responsibilities: - Understand product requirements, design inputs, and system architectural needs, and translate them into firmware test needs - Design and develop unit tests, integration tests, and system-level tests for a cutting-edge medical device - Develop automated test scripts in Python for firmware and hardware validation - Collaborate with electrical, hardware, and software engineers to ensure comprehensive test coverage - Create documents describing test architectures and methodologies Qualifications: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field - 5+ years of experience in script-driven firmware testing, including automated test development and execution - Experience working across multi-disciplinary teams and time zones, demonstrating critical thinking and technical leadership - (Nice-to-have) Knowledge of medical device development processes, including V&V , design controls, risk management, and regulatory complianceSkills and Abilities: - Strong proficiency in Python - Python-based automated test frameworks for embedded firmware - Experience with HIL (hardware-in-loop) test setups and automation - Experience with CI/CD processes for automation and version releases - Linux-based testing rigs - Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART, and other communication protocols - Ability to understand PCB schematics - Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers - Strong debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and software layers - Proficiency with Git for software version control - (Nice-to-have) Experience with design and implementation of test plans for verification and validation in compliance with FDA development standards - (Nice-to-have) Experience with IoT devices - (Nice-to-have) Basic proficiency (or better) in embedded C - (Nice-to-have) Understanding of firmware architectures (bare-metal and RTOS)   WHAT WE OFFER - An opportunity to work on exciting, cutting-edge projects to transform patients’ lives in a highly collaborative work environment. - Competitive compensation, including stock options. - Comprehensive benefits package. - 401(k) program with matching contributions.
