As a Quality Control Manager (QCM), you will lead implementation and execution of a comprehensive project-specific quality control program from notice of award through final completion. You will play a critical role in ensuring every aspect of the work meets contract requirements, owner expectations, and Absher’s standards for excellence, particularly on complex federal, government, and infrastructure projects.
This role is ideal for a construction professional who brings deep technical expertise, strong field presence, and a passion for getting it right the first time.
What You’ll Do
Lead execution of project-specific Quality Control programs across all divisions of work
Develop, implement, and manage Quality Control Plans, inspection checklists, testing requirements, and Definable Features of Work (DFOWs)
Administer the Three-Phase Control process, including preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections
Identify quality concerns early and partner with project teams to drive timely resolution
Oversee subcontractor QA/QC performance and coordinate with third-party inspectors and testing agencies
Manage quality documentation including inspections, testing reports, RFIs, submittals, procurement tracking, punch lists, and closeout documentation
Participate in site meetings including pull planning, commissioning, coordination meetings, and owner/consultant meetings
Collaborate closely with project teams to support schedule, constructability, and issue resolution
Engage directly with owners, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to uphold project quality standards
Support and mentor project teams in execution of quality control processes and documentation
Participate in site safety audits, orientations, and investigations as needed
At times, provide supplemental support in functions typically aligned with project superintendent or project management responsibilities

Required Qualifications
10+ years of combined construction experience in roles such as Quality Control Manager, Project Superintendent, Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Construction Manager
At least 4 years of dedicated experience serving in a Quality Control role on complex construction projects
Experience supporting projects of similar size and type, including projects valued at $20 million or greater
Experience on federal or government projects governed by United States Army Corps of Engineers and/or Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command quality control standards
Experience administering Definable Features of Work (DFOW) and the Three-Phase Quality Control process
Ability to prepare and manage project-specific Quality Control Plans and associated inspection and testing documentation
Working knowledge of United States Army Corps of Engineers safety requirements and federal compliance protocols
Ability to obtain, or current possession of, United States Army Corps of Engineers Quality Control Management Certification
Eligible for access to secure government work sites; some projects may require U.S. citizenship
Comfortable using tablets, mobile tools, and construction software for inspections and reporting
Ability to travel to assigned project locations, including commute distances up to approximately 60 miles or two hours from home
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
QCM certification
Experience supporting military, federal, healthcare, infrastructure, or other technically complex projects
Experience coordinating commissioning, turnover, and owner acceptance processes
Physical Demands
This job may be performed in the office or on the jobsite and requires frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Heavy lifting may be needed; the employee should be able to lift items up to 40lbs. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists. He/she must be able to navigate the jobsite and is expected to be able to comply with all safety regulations in the office and on the jobsite.

Salary offers are typically made between the entry and midpoint of the range and are based on factors such as experience, education, and internal equity.
