This pivotal role is responsible for leading the development, integration, and modernization of internal tools that support data center project delivery. The Business Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing, optimizing, and supporting all enterprise business systems used across Professional Services. This role ensures that all systems operate efficiently, integrate properly, and support Align’s strategic goals.
1. This role actively gathers requirements, analyzes workflows, and translates business needs into system solutions
Meet with business leaders to gather process requirements.
Document current-state and future-state workflows.
Translate operational needs into system configurations or enhancements.
Write functional requirement documents (FRDs) and user stories.
Validate data accuracy and reporting logic.
Conduct root cause analysis on system or process issues.
2. The Business Systems Manager leads internal system initiatives from planning through implementation.
Develop project plans for system upgrades, integrations, or new implementations.
Define scope, timeline, milestones, and deliverables.
Coordinate internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Manage testing cycles (UAT planning and execution).
Track risks, issues, and mitigation strategies.
Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Lead change management and rollout communications.
3. This individual is the hands-on owner of system configuration, security, and optimization.
Configure workflows, validation rules, and automation.
Manage user roles, permissions, and access controls.
Maintain data integrity and system hygiene.
Troubleshoot system errors and user-reported issues.
Oversee sandbox environments and testing.
Manage system updates and release notes.
Maintain integrations between ERP, and Data Center project systems.
Monitor system performance and adoption metrics.
Key Responsibilities
Business Systems Oversight
Responsible for administering or managing the integration of core systems such as:
Procore and related marketplace tools
Sage Intacct
Internal tools
Ensure system uptime, performance, and reliability.
Evaluate new systems and tools to improve operational efficiency.
Systems Integration & Process Improvement
Lead integration between Procore and Sage Intacct and reporting systems.
Identify process inefficiencies and implement technology-driven improvements.
Standardize workflows across estimating, project management, accounting, and field operations.
Develop automation solutions to reduce manual data entry and errors.
Reporting & Data Management
Oversee data governance and system accuracy.
Develop dashboards and reporting tools to support executive decision-making.
Ensure consistent KPI tracking across projects and departments.
Support materials planning, financial reporting, job costing, and forecasting processes.
User Support & Training
Drive user adoption of new tools.
Provide support for business system issues.
Develop and deliver training programs for office and field personnel.
Create SOPs and documentation for system processes.
Manage system permissions and security roles.
Vendor & Project Management
Serve as primary contact for software vendors and implementation partners.
Lead system upgrades, implementations, and migrations.
Manage contracts, licensing, and renewals.
Develop and manage business systems budget.
Compliance & Security
Ensure systems comply with accounting standards, construction regulations, project timelines, and company policies.
Partner with IT to maintain cybersecurity best practices.
Maintain audit trails and internal controls within systems.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
Experience
5 – 10+ years of experience managing business systems in a construction, manufacturing, IT Consulting or project-based environment.
Experience with construction ERP and project management platforms (e.g., Procore, Sage Intacct).
Experience leading system implementations, integrations or major upgrades.

Understanding full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
