About the role
We are seeking a Data Center Civil Engineer to lead the interpretation and application of civil infrastructure requirements for Armada’s modular data center deployments.
This role is focused on ensuring our standardized modules can be permitted, sited, and deployed across diverse jurisdictions without late-stage redesign . You will serve as the internal authority on civil site requirements , translating local codes, site constraints, and AHJ expectations into clear inputs for product, engineering, and delivery teams.
This is a strategic, cross-functional position at the intersection of civil infrastructure, permitting, and modular deployment execution .
Location. This role is remote-based.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Civil Requirements & Site Strategy
Own interpretation of civil and site development requirements impacting modular data center deployments, including:
Site preparation, grading, and access
Foundations, anchoring, and structural interfaces
Utility coordination (power, grounding, water, drainage)
Fire/life safety site considerations (setbacks, access, egress)
Evaluate jurisdiction-specific codes, permitting pathways, and AHJ expectations
Identify constraints affecting module siting, layout, and deployment feasibility
Support design development as needed by translating site conditions, permitting constraints, utility requirements, and constructability considerations into actionable inputs for engineering and external GC's/civil consultants.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with product, engineering, and delivery teams to:
Translate civil requirements into clear constraints, risks, and design inputs
Provide early-stage feasibility assessments and go/no-go recommendations
Prevent non-standard site conditions from driving late-stage design changes
Support customer deployments by:
Assessing site-specific civil readiness
Coordinating with OEM partners and local civil consultants
Advising on alignment with Armada’s standard SKUs vs. required customization
Standards & Scalability
Develop and maintain:
Civil requirement guidelines for modular deployments
Site readiness and permitting checklists by geography
Documentation that standardizes civil assumptions across projects
Capture recurring requirements and regional patterns to:
Improve deployment speed and consistency
Inform product and platform evolution
Required Qualifications
Experience
6+ years in civil engineering, site development, or infrastructure delivery
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng ) license
Experience with data centers, critical facilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects
Proven ability to operate across permitting, site execution, and cross-functional teams
Experience managing consultants, vendors, and project stakeholders
Technical Expertise
Strong understanding of:
Site development (grading, drainage, access, utilities)
Foundations and structural interfaces for prefabricated or modular systems
Utility coordination, especially electrical service and grounding
Fire/life safety considerations at the site level
Ability to interpret codes, standards, and AHJ requirements and translate them into actionable guidance
Compensation
For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.
We use a geographic pay structure based on cost-of-labor markets.
Tier 1 (e.g., SF Bay Area, NYC, Seattle): $130,830 – $163,530
Tier 2 (most U.S. metro areas): $113,760 – $142,200
Tier 3 (other cities): $108,080 – $135,090
Final compensation will be determined by experience, scope, and level, and may vary from the posted range.
In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).
