ABOUT THE POSITION
The Manager, Field Operations acts as Avantus’s representation in the field. This person is responsible for select projects that go into construction, ensuring that field activities are done properly, and in accordance with safety, quality control, company standards, and company expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Determines appropriate workforce needed for supervision on construction projects
Builds and maintains relationships with construction management companies who provide on-site workforce
Ensures that Avantus field personnel are properly introduced to projects, and aware of Avantus’s expectations on safety, quality, production, and general company standards
Ensures proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available on-site during visits for representatives of Avantus
Escalates and reports high urgency issues discovered in the field in a timely manner
Reviews, provides comments on, and challenges quality control plans, safety plans, and schedules from contractors
Works with Project Managers to ensure proper billing and invoicing by EPC contractors
Oversees completion of necessary audits of work performed by EPC contractors, ensuring alignment with contract or approved manuals
Reviews, comments on, and assesses reports provided by contractors independently or with team (reports include safety reports, quality reports, change orders, etc., depending on the incident at hand)
Work with owner engineer encompassing site visits, inspections, audits, punch lists, reporting.
During early stage of projects, works with Developers and Project Managers to provide input, set realistic expectations, and ensure the team is set up for success when construction starts
Assign work, direct work, coach, develop, and mentor construction management staff that represent Avantus on site
Review EPC proposals, engineering, and design packages submitted by EPC contractors to ensure optimal constructability
Ensure proper communication between field operations personnel and project buyers or sponsors
Other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICAT IONS
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or similar focus, or equivalent years of experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction management roles, with experience in civil, structural, or electrical construction management
Experience managing large solar PV construction projects, over 100mw preferred
Understanding of various areas of construction and how they interconnect, such as field work, quality control, safety, and engineering
Ability to successfully manage relationships and foster open communication with both field and corporate personnel
Able to communicate politely but strongly, understanding dynamics of chain of command in the field
Comprehend EPC contract, exhibits and appendixes
Travel – 75%
NICE TO HAVES
Battery storage construction management and high voltage construction management experience is highly preferred
Commissioning experience – highly preferred

The base salary range for this full-time position is listed below (plus bonus and benefits). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in California. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Pay Range $136,083 — $160,098 USD
