Join our team before July 1, 2026, and receive a  $5000  sign-on bonus.   $2,500 Relocation for qualified out-of-the-area candidates Campus Location: 3711 S Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60609   Compensation: Up to   $41 per hour + $5000   Sign-on Bonus  (for those hired by 7/1/2026) Employment: Full Time Are you an A&P Mechanic ready for a new chapter in your aviation career?   The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM)—the largest aviation maintenance training school in the U.S.—is seeking experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs), Aircraft Mechanics, and FAA-certified A&P Mechanics to join our team as instructors.   If you have hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance and enjoy mentoring others, this is your opportunity to step out of the hangar and into a role where you can shape the next generation of aviation professionals.   This opportunity is ideal for professionals exploring aviation mechanic jobs, aircraft maintenance careers, or instructor roles in aviation training.   No prior teaching experience required.  We provide a  5-day paid instructor training program  to help you successfully transition into the classroom.   Why Consider Teaching?   Many skilled A&P mechanics and aviation technicians don’t initially consider teaching—but those who do often find it to be one of the most rewarding paths in their career.   At AIM, you’ll:   Share your real-world aircraft maintenance experience with future technicians Enjoy more predictable schedules compared to field work Make a lasting impact on students entering the aviation industry Continue growing your own knowledge while developing others    About the Role   As  an Aircraft  Maintenance Instructor (A&P Mechanic Instructor), you will deliver  FAA Part 147-aligned  aviation maintenance curriculum and provide hands-on instruction to students  preparing for  careers as  aircraft  maintenance technicians (AMTs).   This role is ideal for experienced A&P mechanics,  aircraft  mechanics, and aviation maintenance professionals who want to combine technical  expertise  with mentorship and training while delivering hands-on aviation maintenance instruction in classroom and active hangar environments.     Schedule Options: 4 or 5 days per week depending on campus needs and candidate preference.   Option 1 (Daytime): Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Friday: Off Option 2 (Evening): Monday–Thursday, 1:30 PM – 11:30 PM | Friday: Off   Key Responsibilities   Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands-on environment Deliver FAA-aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership Help create a structured, engaging, and safety-focused learning environment Maintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materials    Qualifications   Education   High School Diploma or GED required Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred    Experience   Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience    Background as an A&P Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT)    Licensure   FAA Airframe AND/OR Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate required   Skills   Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation maintenance procedures Interest in mentoring, coaching, and developing others Ability to work in a structured, compliance-driven training environment Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) Flexibility to support evening or weekend schedules as needed    What We Offer   We are proud to offer a competitive compensation package that supports your personal and professional well-being.
