Position Summary
Blackbird Health is seeking a mission-driven, board-certified psychiatrist or collaborative physician to join our growing pediatric mental health team in Virginia. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of collaborative clinical experience and a passion for expanding access to high-quality mental health care for children, adolescents, and families. This is a fully remote, flexible opportunity with a commitment of approximately 2-5 hours per month to support up to 4 Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.

You are a board-certified psychiatrist with a genuine commitment to pediatric and adolescent mental health
You bring 5+ years of collaborative clinical experience, and are comfortable working alongside nurse practitioners in a supervisory capacity
You have a deep understanding of child and adolescent psychiatric presentations and evidence-based treatment approaches
You are thoughtful and thorough in your clinical decision-making and chart reviews
You are collaborative by nature, you see your role as a partner to your clinical team, not just an overseer
You are comfortable in a fully remote, async-first environment and responsive when your team needs you
You are mission-driven and excited about improving access to pediatric mental health care
How you'll make an impact:
Provide clinical collaboration to nurse practitioners delivering pediatric mental health care
Support and assess clinical decision-making to ensure the highest standard of patient care
Conduct high-quality reviews of patient charts on a regular cadence in accordance with Virginia state requirements
Be available for virtual consultations with nurse practitioners as clinical questions arise
Collaborate with the clinical and leadership team to refine workflows and implement best practices
Serve as a trusted clinical resource for complex or escalated cases across the patient population
The basics you'll need:
Board-certified psychiatrist licensed in Virginia (MD or DO)
Active and unrestricted Virginia medical license in good standing
5+ years of collaborative clinical experience (CRNP collaboration preferred)
Comfortable working in a fully remote, telehealth environment
Own your own phone, computer, and high-speed internet connection
Availability for approximately 2-5 hours per month for chart reviews and consultations
Ability to respond to urgent clinical consultations in a timely manner
Nice to have:
Experience working with children, adolescents, or young adults in a clinical setting
Familiarity with collaborative practice agreements and multi-state telehealth regulations
Background in or exposure to integrated or interdisciplinary care models
Experience working in a high-growth or startup healthcare environment
Comfort with EMR systems and async clinical communication tools
Compensation :
The salary range below is based on monthly compensation.
