About Brick...
Brick is transforming how people interact with technology—helping people minimize distractions, reclaim focus, and live more intentionally. Our physical device and companion app turn smartphones from sources of distraction into tools for presence and productivity.
We’re on a mission to help people take back control of their time and attention so they can focus on what matters most—and we’re building a team of thoughtful, driven people to make that happen.
Job Summary / About the Role:
The Senior Finance Manager is a critical role on Brick's finance team, responsible for owning the accounting, reporting, and strategic finance work that keeps us on track as we scale. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this person will be a core builder of the finance function — driving day-to-day execution while partnering cross-functionally with our data team to sharpen KPI reporting across the org. You'll be at the center of how Brick understands and manages its business.
Location:
This role is based in our Chicago office, with an expectation of 3–4 days per week in person. Given the cross-functional nature of this work, in-person collaboration is a core part of how we operate — with flexibility to work from home as needed.
What You’ll Do:
Accounting & Reporting
Own the monthly close process, AP execution, and vendor management
Prepare monthly financial packages for leadership and the board
Manage ERP configuration, custom reporting, and process improvements
Lead cap table maintenance and administration of Brick's equity program
Strategic Finance & Capital
Execute capital markets and treasury workstreams, including debt facility management
Drive quarterly strategic finance initiatives (budgeting, forecasting cycles, system rollouts)
Lead financial analysis on major growth and cost decisions
Manage the annual audit and tax cycle, including external CPA and advisor relationships
Data & Analytics
Partner with our data team and function leads to maintain source-of-truth metrics across the org
Own company, leadership, and functional KPI dashboards
What We’re Looking For:
Required Experience
2–4 years in accounting, audit, FP&A, or transaction advisory
Hands-on ownership of a monthly close cycle
Exposure to strategic finance work (capital markets, modeling, board materials)
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field
Preferred Experience
Startup or small-team experience
Background in consumer or ecommerce
Hands-on experience with mid-market ERPs
Familiarity with SQL or modern BI tools
Qualities & Skills
Clear written and verbal communication — you'll translate between finance, ops, growth, and product
High ownership mindset with a bias toward execution
Comfortable juggling multiple priorities and pivoting as a fast-moving company demands
Strong accounting fundamentals (GAAP, accruals, reconciliations) and financial modeling skills
Ability to analyze and present data clearly to cross-functional audiences
Turns ad-hoc work into repeatable processes
The base salary range for this role is $90,000–$130,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
What we care about We’re building a team of people who take ownership, move with focus, and care deeply about the quality and impact of their work. We hold a high bar, prioritize what matters, and believe the best ideas come from thoughtful, driven individuals who are trusted to execute.
Compensation & benefits We offer competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and comprehensive benefits for you and your family. We also prioritize flexibility, time to recharge, and a culture that supports both high performance and sustainable work.
If you’re excited about our mission and this role, we’d love to hear from you.
