Role Overview:   CHAOS is seeking a Senior Electrical Test Systems Engineer to design, build, and maintain Special Test Equipment (STE), Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) infrastructure used to develop, integrate, test, and validate advanced sensor, avionics, and embedded systems in R&D, production, and field environments.   This role is responsible for the electrical architecture, integration, and sustainment of automated test racks, interface test adapters (ITAs), cable assemblies, instrumentation, and subsystem interconnects. The ideal candidate has experience developing complex electronic test systems using commercial instrumentation and industry-standard interfaces within aerospace, defense, or high-performance embedded system environments.   This is a full-time, on-site position in El Segundo, CA.   Responsibilities:   Design, develop, integrate, and sustain automated STE/GSE systems for sensor, avionics, and embedded hardware platforms   Architect test racks, interface test adapters (ITAs), cable assemblies, subsystem interconnects, and instrumentation interfaces   Integrate and troubleshoot commercial test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, VNAs, DMMs, and switching systems   Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and subsystem integration test environments for R&D and production programs   Define electrical architectures including power distribution, grounding, signal conditioning, instrumentation, and interface control   Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, rack layouts, and technical documentation   Collaborate with software, systems, RF, electro-optical, mechanical, and production engineering teams to develop automated test solutions   Support automated verification, validation, acceptance testing, and production test activities   Perform troubleshooting, root cause corrective action (RCCA), integration, and test execution for complex hardware/software systems   Support deployment, sustainment, and continuous improvement of lab, production, and fielded test systems   Minimum Requirements:   Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline   5+ years of experience designing electrical test systems or automated test equipment   Experience designing STE, GSE, ATE, or HIL systems for aerospace, defense, or embedded hardware applications   Experience integrating and automating commercial test equipment using SCPI, Ethernet, Serial, USB, or GPIB interfaces   Practical experience with modular test platforms such as PXIe, LXI, or VXI   Experience with interface test adapters (ITAs), cable/harness design, and subsystem integration   Understanding of electrical interfaces including Ethernet, Serial, USB, LVDS, SPI, I2C, CAN, and discrete I/O   Familiarity with RF, EO/IR, avionics, radar, or embedded electronic systems   Experience developing electrical schematics and hardware documentation using ECAD tools   Experience debugging complex mixed-signal, embedded, RF, or avionics systems at subsystem and system level   Familiarity working with automated test environments and software automation teams   Strong hands-on laboratory and hardware integration experience   Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance   Preferred Requirements:   Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline   Experience supporting RF/radar or EO/IR sensor integration and test   Experience with rack-level system design including power, cooling, grounding, and EMI/EMC considerations   Experience with high-speed digital, analog, and RF measurement systems   Familiarity with Python-based test automation and instrumentation control   Experience supporting high-rate manufacturing or production test environments   Experience supporting deployed or customer-facing GSE systems   Familiarity with military or aerospace standards and environmental test practices   Experience using ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, Zuken, or Mentor Graphics for multi-sheet schematics and harness documentation   Familiarity with environmental and qualification testing including vibration, thermal, and EMI/EMC validation   Why CHAOS?
