About the Team
DoorDash is looking for an exceptional Engineering Manager to lead the Merchant Tablet team — one of our most impactful and fast-moving product teams. Our mission: meet merchants where they are and build best-in-class Android and iOS apps, powered by AI, that help merchants run smarter, faster, and more confidently. This team owns the T0 tablet app — the primary surface through which tens of thousands of merchants manage live operations on DoorDash every single day.
By creating intuitive and reliable apps, the team plays a critical role in helping merchants save time, improve efficiency, and grow their businesses.
About the Role
As the Engineering Manager for the Merchant tablet team, you will lead a group of talented backend and Android engineers to develop impactful features and scalable platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to execute a strategic roadmap that enhances merchant satisfaction and engagement. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of exceptional user experiences across mobile and web platforms while also shaping the team’s technical vision for the future.
The team is also responsible for the quality and reliability of the android platform. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a passion for building user-centric solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Lead high-impact tech initiatives that shape our Merchant apps like building out an AI powered chat interface to solve live order issues.
Drive eng-excellence for the tablet team through investments in reliability and observability.
Work with a variety of cross-functional partners from product, design, analytics, engineering and S&O
Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 9+
Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and outside-of-the-box thinking
Scale the team by recruiting, retaining and developing highly talented engineers across different disciplines
We're excited about you because you have…
B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
3+ years of experience in people management leading full stack product teams
2+ years of experience leading Android engineers.
8+ years of industry experience
You bring a strong product sense and can be a thought partner with cross-functional peers
Experience selecting and adopting web technologies to improve testing and performance
A customer-centric mindset and will apply that to building out platform services
Growth mindset - you're eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting
Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve

Compensation
The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado. $193,800 — $285,000 USD About DoorDash
