Director of IT
Location: Oakland, CA (Onsite)
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Director of IT to lead technology operations for a newly combined global organization. This role carries a dual mandate: completing a critical integration effort over the next 8–12 months and, more importantly, building and running a scalable, high-performing IT function for the long term.
You will lead a globally distributed team of ~14 IT professionals across the U.S., India, China, and Mexico, while owning the performance, reliability, and evolution of the company’s technology environment.
This is not a purely managerial role—we are looking for a leader who can operate at both a strategic and technical level, directly engaging in systems configuration, troubleshooting, and architectural decision-making.
What You’ll Do
IT Operations & Service Delivery
Own day-to-day IT operations ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and performant
Establish service levels and build a responsive, unified IT support experience
Lead incident management processes, including escalation and communication protocols
Proactively monitor and improve system health and performance
Integration Leadership (Time-Bound)
Drive completion of a major technology integration (8–12 months), including:
Microsoft 365 and Entra ID consolidation
Migration from Google Workspace
Okta decommissioning
CrowdStrike Falcon deployment
Next-gen SIEM implementation
Ensure business continuity, quality, and timeline accountability throughout
Identity, Endpoint & Security
Own Entra ID (Azure AD), including SSO, MFA, conditional access, and provisioning
Manage Intune across macOS, iOS, and Windows environments
Lead CrowdStrike Falcon operations and SIEM strategy, including threat detection and response
Oversee SOC strategy and vendor partnerships
Collaboration & Productivity Platforms
Administer Slack Enterprise Grid, Microsoft 365, and meeting platforms (Teams/Zoom)
Ensure tools are reliable, secure, and aligned with business needs
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and unify a global IT team across legacy organizations
Build a strong service-oriented culture and eliminate “us vs. them” dynamics
Mentor team members and identify future hiring needs
Vendor & Budget Management
Own vendor relationships (Microsoft, CrowdStrike, Slack, etc.)
Manage IT budget, optimize costs, and lead contract negotiations
Provide visibility into IT spend and cost-saving opportunities
What You Bring
Required Expertise
Deep, hands-on experience with:
CrowdStrike Falcon (EDR, policies, response workflows)
Next-generation SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Chronicle, Elastic, Falcon LogScale)
Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and identity migrations
Intune endpoint management across Apple and Windows devices
Microsoft 365 & Slack Enterprise Grid administration
Strong foundation in:
DNS, SaaS environments, and enterprise IT operations
Large-scale migrations and system integrations
Experience
10+ years in IT operations, infrastructure, or systems engineering
5+ years managing IT teams (people leadership required)
Experience supporting 200+ user environments across multiple locations
Proven experience in mergers, acquisitions, or major IT consolidations
Leadership Traits
Service-first mindset with strong accountability
Hands-on, no-ego approach to leadership
Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Comfortable operating in ambiguity with a bias toward action
Additional Information
Travel: Up to 10% annually for global team meetings and site visits
Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder)
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $220K–$260K, depending on experience
