Senior Manager of Victory Ceremonies
The Senior Manager of Victory Ceremonies will play a critical role within the LA28 Sport team, leading on the strategic planning, management, and delivery of all Victory Ceremonies across the Games. This role will report to the Head of Sport Presentation and work across Sport, including Competition Management, to ensure all ceremonies are delivered successfully, on schedule, and in full compliance with the protocols of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
This role will be expected to collaborate within the Sport department as well as other LA28 functions (i.e. Venues and Infrastructure, Venue Management, Brand, Identity, and Look, Protocol, Accreditation, etc.), and across the organization (including but not limited to People Management, Marketing, Commercial, Technology, and Finance).
Key Responsibilities:
Victory Ceremonies Planning, Program Management, and Function Reporting
Oversee pre-production planning in office and at venues
Serve as the primary liaison with IOC and IPC representatives
Coordinate with People Management and Workforce to recruit, manage, and train Victory Ceremonies managers, producers, and cast
Develop and implement training programs to ensure consistent ceremony presentation across all venues
Manage the Victory Ceremonies budget and write tenders
Oversee creative elements such as medals and lanyards, podiums, trays, costumes, gifts, and music
Ensure the development of policies, procedures, and operational documentation for ceremony delivery and coordinate delivery schedules
Work with relevant FAs to coordinate the flag program for Victory Ceremonies
Act as the stakeholder representative for victory ceremonies, ensuring that the unique needs of the ceremonies are addressed in all deliverables across Brand, Identity, and Look, Protocol, Marketing, and Consumer Products
Provide Games-wide oversight of Victory Ceremonies operations, supporting venue teams and ensuring seamless ceremony delivery
Manage communication processes for resolving operational issues, oversees the VC roaming support team, and serves as the primary liaison with IOC and IPC representatives
Sport Planning, Program Management, and Function Reporting
Act as a point of entry in Sport for other LA28 Functions to request sport information on related workstreams for planning purposes
Coordinate with Sport Competition on the collection and validation of centralized requests for planning information from other Functions
Validate and update key sport information within the LA28 Data Warehouse and other source of truth documents
Author Sport updates, presentations and reports on relevant topics to be used internally and externally to communicate progress and issues within the Sport department
Support the development of budgets and projects plans with well researched and validated information
Background & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Minimum 7+ years of l eadership experience in major international multi-sport events, or 3-4 years of experience specifically with the Olympic and Paralympic Games
Background in live television, sports, theatre, festivals, or large-scale live productions
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Experience working cross-functionally on project delivery
Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to resolve issues
Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, seeking feedback, and evolving work
Required proven ability of building good interpersonal relationships with people across the organization, while balancing assertiveness with diplomacy
Ability to implement and manage change effectively
Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision making
