Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, service-oriented psychiatric care in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements. This role provides leadership to psychiatric providers, collaborates with clinical and administrative leadership, supports quality improvement initiatives, and serves as a key physician leader within the organization.  In addition to administrative responsibilities, the medical director provides direct patient care as an Independent Contractor. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Acute Psychiatric Unit  Leadership and Administrative Duties • Partner with administrative and nursing leadership to maintain the highest standards of patient care within the Acute Psychiatric Unit. • Provide oversight of APU psychiatrists and advanced practice providers, including onboarding, training, professional development, and credentialing support as needed. • Manage psychiatry staffing schedules and after-hours call coverage for the APU. • Provide leadership and guidance regarding psychiatric patient care planning and treatment. • Regularly attend and participate in the APU QAPI committee and other relevant clinical, medical staff or operational committees. • Meet regularly with nursing and professional staff to discuss and problem-solve clinical issues, patient care concerns, operational matters, and educational needs. • Participate in administrative decision-making and development of policies and procedures to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. • Provide leadership and input regarding APU operations, budgeting, staffing, program development, billing, and annual strategic goals. • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure appropriate patient care, transfers, consultations, and referrals. • Review psychiatric medication reports and implement recommendations as appropriate. • Promote and support exceptional patient experience initiatives. • Participate in federal, state, local, and other external surveys, inspections, and regulatory reviews related to the APU. • Lead quality improvement initiatives in partnership with clinical and operational leadership. • Support optimization and utilization of the electronic health record within psychiatric services. • Establish and maintain relationships with referral sources, physicians, hospitals, and healthcare professionals to support census and program growth. • Professionally represent SFCJL in meetings and collaborations with external agencies, healthcare organizations, and community partners. Daily administrative responsibilities, in collaboration with other APU providers include: • Perform timely clinical screening of referrals for admission to the APU • Attendance at the APU multidisciplinary rounds • Overnight weekday call coverage by phone Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) & Frank Residences Support • Participate in monthly interdisciplinary meetings with Frank Residences’ leadership and clinical staff to discuss and support residents with behavioral health needs. • Provide consultation and guidance regarding admissions and ongoing care of residents and patients with psychiatric or behavioral health needs. • Coordinate psychiatric consultation services for residents and patients across Frank Residences and JHRC. • Provide education and training to staff on behavioral health, psychiatric conditions, and related clinical topics. Medical Staff Leadership & Organizational Support • Serve as Medical Staff President and provide leadership to the Medical Staff Executive Committee. • Attend and lead monthly medical staff meetings focused on quality, patient flow, operational performance, patient experience, and physician engagement. • Assist with completion of required Community Benefit reporting, Implementation Strategy initiatives, and Community Benefit Tracking documentation. • Promote the mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives of the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living • Perform other duties as assigned. JOB DETAILS • Pay Rate: $250,000 • Hours: Full-Time REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required. • Current unrestricted physician license in the State of California
