Power Scholars Academy - Teacher
**THIS IS A SUMMER SCHOOL POSITION. EMPLOYMENT IS SEASONAL AND TEMPORARY** PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Power Scholars Academy (PSA) serves in partnership with Woburn Public Schools as an academic offering for incoming grade one-grade seven local students. The PSA will run in the mornings in five weeks from Monday to Thursday in Partnership with the YMCA of Greater Boston. The Power Scholars Academy Programming at the YMCA Day Camp will provide a whole child and whole family approach that blends high-intervention academics with high-quality, traditional day camp activities. Our objectives are: Address unfinished learning from SY25-26 and increase academic achievement.
Develop student socio-emotional skills and increase student efficacy by building skills and competencies - paying careful attention to any additional social-emotional needs created by the pandemic
Strengthen the effectiveness of school-community partnerships; and
Promote student health and wellness.
REPORTS TO: Position reports to the Academic Site Coordinator in partnership with the YMCA Program Administrator.
The PSA for in-person will run from Monday, July 7 to Thursday, August 7, 2025. The total duration of the program will be 4 days a week for 5 weeks. The Teacher is expected to: Work all 20 days of the program and participate in relevant PD days. PD dates will take place outside of school hours. Each day will consist of 5 hours’ on-site delivery of lessons and preparation. This will also include support during non-academic hours and activities. Schedule will be approximately 8 am to 1 pm.
Plan lessons to prepare for rigorous instruction and conduct appropriate assessments.
All teachers must commit to attending and participating in training and other activities for up to 20 hours per summer. These include (but are not limited to) training and set up, EEC Essentials training, and summer graduation ceremony.

Teachers will be paid $50 per hour with a maximum summer salary of $6000 (inclusive of on-site delivery and training, etc.). Any missed hours will cause an adjustment of salary.
