When you work for the City, you’re choosing a job with purpose. Under general direction, the Medical Social Work Supervisor works for the Department Disability and Aging Services (DAS) Hub. This position is responsible for supervising intake functions including Adults Protective Services, home delivered meals, In Home Supportive Services, case management, Community Living Fund, Enhanced Care Management and Information, referral and assistance. This position also includes supervision of Class 2920 Medical Social Workers and Class 2940 Protective Services Worker staff. Along with supervision, this supervisor provides consultation concerning the most difficult cases and serves as liaison for DAS intake Programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS According to Civil Service Commission Rule 109, the duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this job class and are not intended to be an inclusive list; may include additional duties as assigned. Ensures all DAS Intake services: Adult Protective Services, In-Home Supportive Services, Community Living Fund/Enhanced Care Management, Public Conservatorship, Home Delivered Meals, Case management, Information, Referral and Assistance, and other relating initiatives are done in accordance with accepted social work practices, City and County, State, and Federal laws and regulations. Prepares records and reports and maintains statistical controls, accountability, and funding justifications in a clear, concise, and well-organized manner. Engages in regular communication via telephone and in writing, making presentations to other staff, supervisors, departments, communities, and colleagues from outside agencies. Provides recourse to dissatisfied clients, and, when escalated, helps solve difficult problems and investigates and responds to reports of program misuse. Reviews and evaluates intakes by case review, case conferences, and individual conferences to ensure that intake workers accurately identify the client's needs. Advises staff, in emergency situations, of appropriate case action, casework methods for handling difficult cases, and suggesting methods and strategies to resolve problems. Participates in the selection of staff, providing or coordinating staff trainings, preparing staff work schedules, and implementing disciplinary procedures. Assigns intake and referrals equitably for medical social work staff according to worker skill, confers with individual staff members on specific duties, and monitors performance by reviewing intakes and related documentation. Engages in regular team and one-on-one meetings to achieve specific case goals, ensures appropriate understanding of case work principles and compliance with legal requirements, and maintains quality of services. Experience: Four (4) years of post-master’s Medical Social Worker experience in a health care setting; AND License and Certification: Current licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) issued by the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences as required under Title 22, California Administrative Code, Section 70055. Substitution: Two (2) years of post-Master’s Medical Social Worker experience supervising medical social workers in a medical social service program of a health care setting (such as a licensed hospital, licensed home health agency or licensed healthcare community and ambulatory center) meeting the regulatory requirements of the State of California may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the post-Master’s Medical Social Worker experience as described above. *** Please note : With your application, please upload a copy of your valid permanent or temporary Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license issued by the State of California Board of B
