When you teach at KIPP, you’re part of a national network that partners with families and communities to create nurturing, rigorous, and joyful schools in pursuit of a more just world.  At KIPP Chicago, elementary schools include grades K - 4 and middle schools include grades 5 - 8..  Currently, we have eight schools  - KIPP Ascend Primary (K - 4), KIPP One Primary (K - 4),  KIPP Bloom Primary (K-4), KIPP Academy Chicago Primary (K - 4), KIPP Ascend Middle School (5- 8), KIPP One Academy (5 - 8), KIPP Bloom College Prep (5 - 8), and KIPP Academy Chicago (5 - 8).   KIPP Chicago seeks both internal and external candidates for our school leadership pipeline pool. Our School Leadership pipeline includes Assistant Principal, Principal in Residence, and Principal roles. Please note this posting is for our School Leadership pipeline “pool,” meaning, while our team has not yet identified openings for school leadership positions, we will interview potential candidates for future, possible openings. RESPONSIBILITIES For a variety of roles within the KIPP Chicago School Leadership Pipelines, your core responsibilities may include: Set ambitious school-wide vision and goals, aligned with the KIPP Chicago region, that lead students on a path to a life of unlimited opportunity: Analyze assessment data and set goals for ongoing improvement in coordination with other administrators and teachers Share the school’s mission with the community and lead team members in actively engaging the community to support and assist in accomplishing that mission Ensure compliance with all policies and state and federal laws Plan and prioritize time and resources to achieve annual goals: Drive the creation of systems and the initiative to create the necessary instructional leadership, management, and curriculum support needed to run a high performing school  Ensure that the school curriculum and programming aligns with the mission, beliefs, priorities, and initiatives of KIPP Chicago Public Schools  Establish or serve on  a leadership team with a clear vision and understanding of their roles and responsibilities in regards to instructional leadership, cultural leadership, operations, budgeting and compliance and provide necessary oversight and guidance Cultivate a diverse, high-potential school leadership pipeline (from teacher leader to AP to successor School Leader) and develop leadership team members by teaching and insisting that they are true owners of the work and coaching and assigning stretch activities  Develop teachers to provide rigorous and high quality instruction: Lead analysis of and develop teachers’ ability to analyze student data to identify strategies that will move students toward mastery Regularly observe and coach Assistant Principals to ensure they are providing high-impact, actionable and bite-sized feedback to teachers on a weekly basis Ensure teachers can collaborate, analyze their practice and student data, and adjust instruction in content teams  Lead whole-school professional development workshops that drive high -impact improvements in teacher practice Model expectations for leaders, teachers, and students on school-wide practices for a joyful and affirmative positive learning environment Create Consistent School-wide Routines & Procedures to lead Safe, Joyful Student Culture  Support efforts to make all staff members feel valued and successful including recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance Provide guidance and oversight of the leadership team and teachers as they work proactively to develop a student culture systems that enhance the school environment and develop student character  Model our commitment to anti-racism in our words and actions  Work in coordination with Talent and Human Resources teams to recruit, interview, select and onboard and retain a diverse, highly-effective staff Build own and school staff’s knowledge and expertise in effective instructional design and academic standards Develop teachers’ conceptual understanding of what students must know and be able to do and what instructional methods drive student mastery Develop knowledge of how standards map to curriculum and assessment Cultivate School Leader’s own success and sustainability by engaging lifelines and renewing to get stronger The qualifications for our School Leadership roles are: Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited university or college (required) Active Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL)  Teachers Certification or active teachers license that can be transferred to IL (preferred)  At least two years of experience in a school-level leadersh
