Primary Function of the Position
Product Managers play a critical role in Ion’s success by enabling cross‑functional teams to deliver differentiated, life‑changing instruments and accessories that improve patient outcomes and customer experience. The Product Manager, Ion Endoluminal is responsible for driving the development, launch, and lifecycle management of robotic instruments and accessories from initial investigation to commercialization and through end‑of‑life.
Working across multiple product franchises and geographies, and in close partnership with R&D, Product Operations, Manufacturing, Clinical, Quality, Regulatory, and Commercial teams, this role serves as the central point of contact for downstream product management as well as bringing field insights into upstream investigations. The Product Manager ensures that products meet customer, clinical, and business needs while balancing performance, usability, cost, supply, and quality considerations.
Operating with moderate independence on complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives, the Product Manager provides strategic input into portfolio and roadmap development, translates voice‑of‑customer and field insights into actionable product requirements, and crafts compelling, data‑driven product narratives to influence tradeoff decisions and stakeholder alignment. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to connect big‑picture strategy to disciplined execution are essential to success in this role.
This position reports to the Senior Group Product Manager of Instruments & Accessories and acts as an advocate for instrument and accessory lifecycle excellence across the Ion endoluminal portfolio.
Essential Job Duties
Downstream Product Management
Own in-market product performance, identifying opportunities to improve adoption, utilization, and customer experience across clinical, operational, and commercial dimensions
Translate voice-of-customer, field insights, and post-market data into clear product requirements, prioritization recommendations, and roadmap inputs
Lead Product Management contributions to SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations Planning) processes, including forecasting, SKU planning, allocation decisions, and launch ramp support
Proactively identify, prioritize, and drive resolution of product quality and supply issues in partnership with cross-functional teams
Business Analysis
Analyze market, customer, competitive, financial, and operational data to inform product decisions and business recommendations
Develop success metrics and KPIs that directly tie product performance to user needs and business outcomes
Partner with Finance to support forecasting, lifecycle planning, and business case development
Integrate qualitative and quantitative research insights into clear product positioning and value propositions
Product Rollout and Launch
Identify and clearly articulate unmet customer needs and propose feature enhancements or next-generation solutions aligned with portfolio strategy
Define and evaluate product solutions based on critical business requirements and potential product impact
Develop product claims, messaging, pricing inputs, and launch strategies
Lead cross-functional project teams to ensure execution of a smooth product rollout process, including product launch, inclusive of product pricing, product introduction timing, product phase in/phase out, and internal and external training plans
Drive readiness and execution of product rollouts, primarily in the U.S., with support of global counterparts when applicable
Measure and communicate post-launch performance, adoption, and customer feedback to inform continuous improvement
Roadmap Development
Serve as a conduit between field teams and product management team, providing actionable, real-time insights
Conduct direct customer engagement, including clinician interviews, site observations, and KOL interactions
Monitor clinical literature, emerging technologies, and market dynamics impacting Ion endoluminal platforms
Contribute to roadmap development by evaluating tradeoffs, risks, and opportunities and building alignment across stakeholders.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative market research to inform Ion’s product roadmap development by evaluating tradeoffs, risks, and opportunities and building alignment across stakeholders.
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in medical device product management, product marketing, or product-focused commercial roles
Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple complex projects with moderate risk and ambiguity
Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize multiple data sources into clear insights and recommendations to senior leadership
Proven ability to communicate compelling product stories and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Track record of effective collaboration across engineering, operations, clinic
