Looking to build your career in a fast-paced laboratory environment? We're seeking a detail-oriented and organised Sample Receipt Officer to join our Environmental Laboratory at Perth Airport, working Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm.
As the first point of contact for incoming samples, you'll play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations and ensuring a seamless process from sample receipt through to the delivery of accurate client results.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be the first point of contact for incoming samples and will help keep operations running seamlessly. Your responsibilities will include (but aren’t limited to):
Unpacking, sorting, and checking incoming samples for accuracy and condition
Registering samples in our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Ensuring accurate and high-quality data entry
Liaising directly with clients to resolve sample receipt or logistics queries
Communicating with section heads about incoming workloads
Preparing and dispatching bottle orders within required timeframes
Sub-sampling and filtering samples as required
Coordinating subcontracting of samples and organising freight
Managing warehouse storage and compliant disposal of samples
Investigating client and internal queries promptly
Ensuring compliance with Quarantine Approved Premise requirements
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives
Promoting a safe working environment and reporting hazards immediately
Assisting with additional duties to ensure smooth daily operations
About You
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and enjoys working in a dynamic team environment.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
A scientific qualification (Diploma or Degree) or solid experience in a laboratory environment
Experience using a LIMS
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
Excellent communication skills
Flexibility with duties and working hours (Monday to Friday 10am–6pm)
Formal training or experience in laboratory or people management (desirable)
