PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Salary to be commensurate with experience
The hiring range for this position is $32.79 - $40.98 per hour

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
Aurora Water is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage systems, treatment of drinking water and non-potable reclaimed wastewater for irrigation, billing and collection, public outreach and water conservation, acquisition and development of future water rights, major capital projects programs, and quality control for regulatory compliance and public health.
The Water Treatment Maintenance Specialist Senior performs technically skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, installation, and control of complex facilities, equipment, and systems to support the operations of the Water Treatment division.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Monitors and inspects facilities, equipment, machinery, and systems to determine need for repair
Leads work crews in the repair and maintenance of water, wastewater, and reuse equipment including water storage tanks, chemical feeders, tanks, pumps, motors, piping systems, valves, and treatment facilities
Coordinates scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of water plant equipment, structures, and buildings
Performs installation of materials, fixtures, equipment, and systems
Checks equipment for proper operation
Designs and fabricates equipment parts as necessary
Monitors and oversees confined space entry by crews
Maintains inventory of parts and supplies
Trains subordinate employees as appropriate
Acts as lead worker
Mixes and loads chemicals
Maintains plant security
Maintains O&M logs and records
Basic knowledge of the city computer systems
Performs janitorial, building, and grounds maintenance
Uses tools such as hand tools, shovel, jack hammer and power tools
Assist with snow removal activities and snow standby call duties
Performs other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

High School Diploma or GED Experience:
Experience:
2 years in water or wastewater treatment operation and maintenance experience
5 years’ work experience related to technical skilled labor preferred, as listed in the Primary Duties & Responsibilities section
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree in water technology or water quality management preferred
Knowledge:
Knowledge of chemistry, biology, math, and hydrology; pumps, valves, motors, filters, backflow prevention devices, piping, and pumping structures
Knowledge of the city computer systems
Knowledge of servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily based on mechanical principles.
Knowledge of safety practices and requirements of a water treatment plant
Knowledge of personal computers and related software.
Skills:
Skilled in the use of hand tools.
Strong interpersonal skills
Skilled in the use of windows-based programs
