OVERVIE W OF POSITION /   DEPARTMENT    Water Locator   identifies   and marks City of Aurora’s infrastructure with accuracy of   locate   request   in accordance with   tier 1 requirements and state law.   Aurora Water is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage systems, treatment of drinking water and non-potable reclaimed wastewater for irrigation, billing and   collection , public outreach and water conservation, acquisition and development of future water rights, major capital projects programs, and quality control for regulatory compliance and public health.   PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES   Use mobile tablet to receive,   document   and close out excavation notices .   Read and interpret utility maps / prints to   identify   the type and size of underground utilities.   Effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel,   regarding   underground facilities.   Operate different electronic detection equipment, to   locate   and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.   Provide   accurate   documentation and   or   sketches related to all   locates   completed .   Receive and respond to excavation notices   in accordance with   established time requirements.   Operate company   vehicle   in a safe manner and   maintain   professional appearance.   Perform work in all weather conditions.   Employee responsible for city owned vehicle/equipment.   Thoroughly read emails, checking emails/text messages often, acknowledge and follow up on emails that are sent to you.   Performs other related duties as assigned.   This job description is not designed to cover or   contain   a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are   required of   the employee. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that   demonstrates   required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.   Education :    High School Diploma, or GED   Experience:    A One-year related experience, or an equivalent combination of construction knowledge.   Preferred Qualifications :   One year of utility   locate   experience.   Knowledge :   G eneral knowledge of state and local damage prevention regulations.   Knowledge of   safety measures relating to motor vehicle operation and other field related matters.   Skills:   Excellent communication skills with the public.   Strong attention to detail and accuracy.   Strong interpersonal skills   Abilities :   Successfully complete City of Aurora’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests.   Communicate effectively with fellow employees, supervisors/ foremen , excavators, contractors, and customers.   Possesses attention to detail.   Possess a fundamental understanding of basic locating concepts and a basic understanding of the water distribution system.   Read and interpret utility maps and utility records.   Possess   a fundamental understanding of the One Call System rules and regulations.   Read and interpret   locate   ticket   request .   Licenses and Certifications Required:    Colorado driver's license with   a good driving   history.   WORKING CONDITIONS   Essential Personnel:   When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the   c ity, all City of Aurora employees may   be required   to work as essential   personnel.   Physical Demands :   Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.   Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.   Must be able to stand and   walk   up to eight hours per day while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 50 pounds.   Must   be able to ride in a vehicle for up to four hours to travel to and from job sites.   Must   be able to work in different temperatures and   changing   weather conditions.   Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.   Exposure to characteristi
