PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Think you’ve got what it takes to keep a city moving? 🚧 Our Public Works team is looking for a full-time Streets Worker to help maintain and repair Aurora’s streets year-round. This isn’t your average desk job; you’ll be outdoors, operating equipment, patching roads, clearing snow, and making sure our community can get where it needs to go safely.

This job announcement is for collecting candidate applications for current and future Streets Operations Workers . Applicants will be contacted only when a position need is identified, and qualifications match the needs of the position.
Salary to be commensurate with experience.
The Hiring range for this position is $21.20 - $26.50/hour.
Candidates must reside in Colorado at the time of hire.
The Streets Worker performs unskilled or semi-skilled manual tasks and operates automotive and grounds or maintenance equipment to maintain, construct and repair city streets and projects for the Public Works Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Shovels and tamps asphalt to include pothole repair in a moving work zone.
Loads and unloads tools.
Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of streets.
Operates and maintains specialized hand and power tools, vehicles, and equipment such as jack hammer, plate and jumping compactors, single axle dump trucks with plow and sander, spot patch/pothole truck.
Perform snow and ice control operations to include working with operators from other departments.
Assisting with large roadside trash pickup.
Performs additional duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Six (6) months of related manual labor, and/or equipment operation, and/or trades experience.
Colorado CDL, a proficiency Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Commercial Driver’s License pre/post trip inspection will be conducted to include drive demonstration with our trucks when hired.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer experience in public works functions to include power tools and/or light equipment operation.
Knowledge:
Application of materials per operation to environmental standards
Skills:
Construction/trade skills.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
Skilled in the operation light to medium equipment
Abilities:
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, outside and in all weather conditions.
Understand oral and written instructions.
Operate various types of maintenance and construction equipment.
Ability to respond to an emergency call within 30 minutes.
Supportive team player with a positive attitude and ability to adapt to change.
Strong commitment to safety.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Colorado R Driver’s License, or Class A or B CDL
Ability to obtain Colorado Class B CDL within 6 months if non-CDL.
Must obtain ATSSA Colorado Flagger Certification within six (6) months of employment.
Must obtain RTD On-Track Safety Training Certification within six (6) months of employment.
First Aid/CPR/AED training.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
Heavy physical work requiring the ability to lift 80 pounds with or without assistance.
Frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
Work Environment:
Works primarily outdoors in both hot and cold weather with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and chemicals
Equipment Used:
Light to medium equipment common to construction and maintenance of roadways.
Operates vehicles such as dump truck, spot patch/pothole truck, crash attenuator trailer, work zone trailer.
Operates hand and power tools and equipment for roadway maintenance.
