Associate Director, AP Permissions & Licensing   College Board   –   AP and Instruction   Location: This is a remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the   option   of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office) . All CB employees   are required to   occasionally   travel   to meet in person   (4-6 times per   year)   for   business purposes.   Role Type :  This is a full-time position   About the Team     AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, AP provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. The AP program is continuing to rapidly expand its development of instructional and assessment products under the leadership of the growing Assessment Production team. The team currently consists of   50+   talented and collaborative professionals with   expertise   in a variety of domains and will continue to expand over the next year.    To support the continued production of high-quality teacher- and student-facing materials, the AP Program is   looking   to fill   the role of   Associate   Director, AP Permissions   & Licensing.   About   the Opportunity       As   Associate Director, AP Permissions   & Licensing , you   will secure third-party copyright permissions primarily for all AP assessment products across all courses, as well as other curricular products in the AP division.   You   will   work   closely with AP Permissions staff,   course   teams, and   product   managers   on   each course’s   assessment   production efforts to build and execute a copyright plan that balances the needs and priorities of various stakeholders.     As   Associate Director, AP Permissions   & Licensing , you are an integral member of the cross-functional team building and delivering AP Exams. You are a collaborative, insightful, and   highly motivated   professional, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for educational   opportunity . You are not shy about researching texts and images, contacting rightsholders, and working with external vendors.   In this role, you will:     Research and clear permissions for AP Assessments ( 6 0%)   Review stakeholder requests for use of third-party content   across AP   courses and make determinations about permissions, fair use, and public domain   Facilitate permissions requests with rightsholders when needed; ensure that we are seeking the   appropriate rights   needed; handle all correspondence with rightsholders from request through contract signature and payment   Adhere to agreed-upon schedules to ensure that permissions deadlines are met; propose alternative pathways and solutions when permissions   cannot   be secured   Support communications for AP Permissions & Licensing ( 3 0%)   Partner with AP   course   teams and course   product   managers to ensure copyright tracking for all current projects is up-to-date and provides all needed information such as credit lines   Liaise with Assessment Production   product   managers to ensure that permissions requests a re   submit ted   with proper timing in the process and documentation   Report on progress, at regular intervals, in writing and via scheduled meetings; ensure that all team members are aware of potential risks and propose alternative solutions   Make informed, independent judgment calls on permissions and content issues; escalate issues and steer to higher-level resolution when needed   Receive reports on AP content posted online without permission, handle removals, and   maintain   correspondence in Copyright Violations email inbox   Drive   Process Development and Improvement ( 1 0%)   Collaborate with peers within and outside the broader AP Assessment Production team to document and iterate on current permissions management practices   Share recommendations for process and tool improvements on an ongoing basis   About You     You Have:   4 +   years' experience   with copyright permissions and / or l icensi ng     Bachelor’s degree     Understanding of   copyright including public domain and fair use, and the process of requesting permission from rightsholders   A detail-driven, process-oriented mindset   Expertise   in   Smartsheet ,   MS Excel and item bank management .   Ability to process and distill large volumes of data and draw insightful conclusions to drive decision-making   Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills;   demonstrated   ability to   establish   positive working relationships at all levels of the organization   The ability to travel 4-6 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business   Are eligible to work in the USA for any employer   All roles at College Board require:   A passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work   Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with a willingness to experiment with and adopt new AI-driven solutions and comfort with learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively.    Clear and concise communication skills, written and verbal   A learner's mindset and a commitment to growth: welcoming diverse perspectives, giving and receiving   timely , respectful feedback, and continuously improving through iterative learning and user input.   A drive for impact and excellence: solving complex problems, making data-informed decisions, prioritizing what matters most, and continuously improving through learning, user input, and external benchmarking.   A collaborative and empathetic approach: working across differences, fostering trust, and contributing to a culture of shared success   Authorization to work in the United States   About Our Proces
