Scope   of Work   Intensive services interns will   assist   IRC’s intensive case management (ICM) team, extended case management (ECM) team, and services for older   refugees   program (SOR) with daily activities that support the long-term integration of refugees, asylees and other humanitarian immigrants in the Baltimore metropolitan area.    The ICM and SOR intern will support case management to single-headed refugee households; survivors of domestic violence; older refugees; youth and young adults without parents or permanent guardians; refugees experiencing mental health or psychological difficulties; refugees with physical disabilities or medical conditions. Interns will work closely with clients, colleagues, and external parties to develop service plans to meet individual client needs and preferences   utilizing   a broad range of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other services and resources   in accordance with   client eligibility and program requirements.   The extended services intern will support vulnerable clients for a period of twelve months, with a particular focus on medically vulnerable clients. The intern will work with the extended services department to connect at-risk clients to the healthcare,   education,and   psychosocial resources that support their individual goals.    Reports To     Extended Services Coordinator or Caseworker   Learning Objectives    Gain an understanding of the U.S. refugee resettlement process and services available to clients in Baltimore.    Learn how to effectively   facilitate   and advocate for clients’ access to   timely   and responsive medical care and supportive services.   Learn how to   identify ,   adapt   and create   appropriate health   educational resources and services for global clients.   Responsibilities   As sist   clients with   remotely arranging   transportation to medical and other required   appointment s.    In coordination with the extended services team, conduct virtual home or community-based orientation sessions on topics relevant to ICM, ECM and SOR clients such as using public transportation, making medical appointments, accessing community resources, etc.    Assist   with service documentation through case-notes and case file maintenance.    Other duties as assigned.    Qualifications   Prior experience   and /or   interest   working with refugees   and immigrants preferred.   Prior experience and /or   interest in   case management ,   social   work   or public health   preferred.    Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced and global environment.   Flexible and reliable, with outstanding attention to detail .     S trong   problem-solving skills .    Excellent communic ation and interpersonal skills.    Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)   and   we b -based applications ( databases , Box) .    Fluency in English   required . Bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is desired.   Valid driver’s license, reliable access to a vehicle with current insurance and the ability to travel regular ly throughout Baltimore strongly preferred .    Position Details    IN-PERSON:  Summer 2026 internships will be hybrid. This includes a combination of standard office environment, remote work, and field time within the greater Baltimore area.   DATES:   Internships start with a required orientation on Monday, June 8 th   (approx. 9:30 AM – 3 PM). Regular weekly hours start the week of June 8 th , 2026, and will continue through September 11 th , 2026 (14 total weeks).   HOURS:   Internships require a minimum of 15 hours per week for   14 weeks . Interns should be able to come to the office at least 3 days per week.   LAPTOP:   Interns will be issued an IRC laptop for the duration of the internship to perform both remote and in-office responsibilities.    REIMBURSEMENT:   Internships with the IRC in Baltimore are unpaid. University credit may be arranged. Summer 2026 interns are eligible for per diem reimbursement at the rate of $15 per day (defined as 7.5 hours) to offset the costs of food and travel of the internship. Interns may also be reimbursed for mileage driven for any approved activities (based on round-trip mileage from the IRC office).     Application Process   DUE DATE:   apply online at   careers.rescue.org  by 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, May 24 th .   INTERVIEWS:   Applicants selected for interviews will be contacted to schedule interviews beginning May 2026.
