We are seeking a Senior Formation Process Engineer to join our Cell Manufacturing Engineering team in San Jose.   In this role, you will own process engineering for our pilot formation line end-to-end — from designing and   iterating on   formation fixtures to driving electrochemical process development and technology transfer.   You'll   work at the intersection of mechanical systems and electrochemistry, partnering closely with R&D and test teams to run experiments, resolve process excursions, and troubleshoot formation equipment. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift   quickly   and scope   regularly expands .   Responsibilities:   Own process engineering and technology transfer for pilot battery cell formation   Design, build, and iterate on formation fixtures; apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure precision and repeatability   Troubleshoot formation equipment hardware and software; drive root cause analysis on excursions and novel failure modes   Lead cross-functional teams to implement process resolutions   Collect, analyze, and report process data from database systems; develop data-driven insights to guide improvement projects   Author and   maintain   standard operating procedures; train technicians on formation operations   Communicate process status and findings clearly across technical and management audiences   Requirements:   Bachelor's degree in Mechanical , Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent experience)   3+ years of engineering experience in electrochemical systems, battery manufacturing, or related electromechanical environments   Solid understanding of manufacturing in at least one lithium-based cell chemistry, from electrode through formation   Hands-on experience designing mechanical fixtures —   proficiency   in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD, with working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up   Experience   operating   and troubleshooting battery formation/cycling equipment (e.g., Arbin, MACCOR, NEWARE)   Proficiency   in statistical analysis tools (JMP, Minitab, or R)   Python and SQL a plus   Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Be able to work in a lab standing up to 8 hours each day. Compensations Range: The expected base salary range for this position is between $128,200.00 - $192,400.00 The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.
