Job Title : Metrology Electronic Calibration Technician Reporting To: Manager, Process Work Schedule: Onsite – Torrance, CA Our team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for an experienced Electronic Calibration Technician with a background in complex electro-mechanical, hydraulic, servo, and electronic equipment. You will report to our Quality Assurance Supervisor and will have an onsite work schedule in Torrance, CA. To be considered for the Electronic Calibration Technician role, here's what you'll need to bring with you: Associate's degree or equivalent Technical Training in a relevant field plus 3 years or more of related experience in electrical calibration, assembly, repair and/or maintenance, or High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division plus 7 years or more of related experience in electronic calibration, assembly, repair and/or maintenance or repair of components and/or test systems Proficient in the use of a variety of precision electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical measuring equipment and standards to calibrate and assist in the repair of electronic components and complex test stands and systems This position requires strong planning and organization and interpersonal skills in order to effectively and efficiently perform calibrations/repairs and resolve or escalate issues for the timely return to service of M&TE As an Electronic Calibration Technician , you will: Calibration: Complete calibrations of electronic related measurement and test equipment (M&TE) in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision to support the value streams and their customers.  This includes planned and unplanned calibrations, troubleshooting, disassembly and repairs when a breakdown or malfunction occurs.  Interpret and work directly from drawings, calibration procedures, Moog specifications, manufacturer’s instructions, and/or applicable Military Specifications to complete calibrations and when required, to perform fault isolation diagnosis in a logical sequence to isolate the origin of the fault to the lowest level component possible.   This includes knowledge of the requirements in the various departments that calibration supports and working directly with assembly, manufacturing and model shop supervision, operators and engineering personnel to provide those departments with technical expertise in Electronic/Test Stand related calibration.   Participate and assist in capability studies with Test Equipment Engineers and Product Engineers, when related to the calibration of the test equipment.  Assist with hydraulic calibrations or repairs when electronic test equipment is involved.  Vendor Calibration: Vendor interaction and processing of M&TE calibrations including: 1) review of vendor certifications, 2) processing of equipment returned from the vendor for calibration and/or repair and 3) processing and implementation of any newly purchased equipment, 4) support on-site vendor calibrations, 5) ensure the maintenance of laboratory standards and coordinate the calibration with contracted calibration services.  The incumbent will also help to resolve technical issues with vendors and /or contracted services or escalate, when necessary. Training: Undertake appropriate training in conjunction with equipment changes and/or improvements in technology and methods in order to stay abreast of the latest technological advances within the field.  Procedures: Provide recommendations for updating existing calibration test procedures and data sheets.  This may include working directly with a Calibration Engineer and/or Senior Level Technician to complete an initial calibration or after an upgrade to establish acceptable standards and methods to be followed in subsequent calibrations. Records: Ensure the maintenance of calibration records and traceability to the National Bureau of Standards as well as compliance to applicable Military Standards and specifications.  Review all calibration data and records for completeness, accuracy, and reporting of significant out of tolerance conditions. Complete necessary forms (i.e. purchase requisitions, missing item reports etc.) for the timely completion of calibration activities. Requirements Compliance: Support internal, regulatory, registrar and customer audits.  Participate in root cause investigation and corrective action implementation of immediate and permanent corrective actions to prevent a recurrence.   Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement activities to assist in the calibration of equipment in an orderly, efficient and safe manner. This includes, but not limited to:   Recommending improvements to existing procedures and datasheets to optimize efficiency and accuracy of electronic test equipment calibrations. The recommendation for the purchase of new calibration equipment and standards and/or upgrade of existing equipment to improve accuracy and efficiencies.
