Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnologist to join our team in Dallas, TX. Work Schedule:   3rd shift PRN Job Responsibilities   Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam   Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens   Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide   Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections   Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures   Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens   Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures   Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care    Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments   Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed   Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner   Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures      Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies   Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting   Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed   Minimum Qualifications    Bachelor’s degree in Histology OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology  with 2 or more years of histology experience    Preferred Qualification:   Current or prior Labcorp experience   Histology and/or ASCP certifications    2 years   or more   experience   in Histology    1 years   or more  of grossing experience Additional Job Standards   Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment   Immunohistochemistry experience    Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens    Ability to accurately read all labels and documents   Highly organized with a strong attention to detail   Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment    Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols   Able to pass a standardized color blindness test   At Labcorp we have a passion in helping people live happy and healthy lives.  Every day we provide vital information that helps our clients and patients understand their health.  If you are passionate about helping people and have a drive for service, then Labcorp could be a great next career step!   Benefits:   Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
