Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Extruder Assistant for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. The Extruder Assistant is a crucial support position working alongside the Extruder Operator to ensure efficient production operations in a manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on technical support with material handling responsibilities, requiring attention to detail and strong organizational skills. The position involves preparing and managing materials for lamination processes, maintaining resin supplies, and ensuring proper waste management while adhering to strict quality and safety standards. This position is fundamental to maintaining smooth production flow while supporting quality standards and safety protocols in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This will be a 3/2 rotating night shift schedule from 7pm-7am: Sun/Wed/Thurs; Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat. Additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am. Any hours worked outside of 7pm-7am will not receive the premium. Key Responsibilities:    Assist Extruder Operator with overall machine operations and maintenance    Prepare, load, and manage rolls for lamination on both primary and secondary unwinds   Monitor and maintain resin supply, ensuring proper placement and stocking    Handle material waste management, including weighing, removal, and baling    Clean and maintain equipment, particularly NIP roll during setup and downtime    Perform daily housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and organized workspace    Meet quality standards and production goals while minimizing waste    Train other assistants on essential job functions    Ensure safety protocols are followed during all operations    Communicate effectively with other departments regarding mechanical issues, materials, and shift information    Support job changeovers and preparations as needed    Maintain accurate documentation of production activities and material usage   Education & Experience :       Must be 18 years or older    Demonstrated stable work history    Problem-solving capabilities    Manufacturing experience preferred   Required Skills :    Basic computer proficiency including email    Ability to accurately read and use measuring tools    Self-directed and task-oriented with the ability to multitask   Strong attention to detail    Good organizational skills    Basic math and measurement skills   Ability to follow detailed instructions   Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required   Good communication skills   Additional Requirements:   M ust be at least 18 years of age   Must pass pre-employment assessments    Drug screening required     Background check required     K nowledge, Skills & Abilities:       Basic understanding of extrusion processes and equipment    Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures    Understanding of quality control standards    Knowledge of material handling procedures    Basic mathematical concepts and measurements    Understanding of inventory management principles   Ability to accurately read and use measuring tools    Strong time management capabilities    Understand Basic equipment maintenance and cleaning   Attention to detail    Ability to follow written and verbal instructions    Effective communication skills    Ability to work independently and as part of a team   Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to :   ​ Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds    Ability to climb, kneel, bend, and squat    Proficiency in grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor skills   Manual dexterity for machine operation and maintenance    Ability to climb ladders safely     Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods    Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)   Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacks   Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:    Noise levels above 80 dB    Operation of complex machinery    Solvents, fumes and inks   Variable Temperatures   Must be able to work flexible shifts    May require nights, weekends, and holidays .       Additional Internal Requirements:   Must demonstrate Core Values  Must be in good standing with no disciplinary action or attendance issues (Associates in Written or higher stage of counseling are not eligible to apply) Must have performer or higher rating in last review  Printpack is proudly an equal-opportunity employer.
