Bring your organization, compassion, and problem-solving skills to a role where every detail makes a difference. Logan Health is seeking a Complex Scheduler to support our Palliative Medicine team across LHMC inpatient services, Logan Health Hospice, and our outpatient Palliative Medicine clinic, while also providing backup scheduling support for Hematology and Oncology.
This is more than a traditional scheduling position. You will help coordinate appointments and provider schedules across multiple care settings, serving as an important connection between patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary care teams. Your ability to anticipate needs, navigate changing priorities, and communicate with care will help patients and families feel supported throughout their healthcare journey.
What You’ll Do
Coordinate appointments and scheduling needs for the Palliative Medicine team
Maintain provider schedules across inpatient, hospice, and outpatient care settings
Schedule new and follow-up appointments for the outpatient Palliative Medicine clinic
Communicate with patients and families regarding appointments, schedule changes, and next steps
Collaborate with providers, nurses, Hospice staff, inpatient teams, and other departments
Respond to scheduling changes, cancellations, and evolving patient-care needs
Maintain accurate patient, provider, and appointment information
Help ensure timely communication and continuity of care across multiple services
Provide compassionate and professional support to patients and families navigating serious illness
Assist with additional scheduling and administrative responsibilities as needed
What Makes This Role Unique
Unlike a traditional ambulatory scheduling role that primarily supports routine clinic appointments, this position coordinates scheduling for a Palliative Medicine team working across inpatient, hospice, and outpatient settings. This role requires someone who can balance accuracy, urgency, compassion, and frequent changes while serving as an important connection point between patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary care teams.
What We’re Looking For
Strong organization and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy healthcare environment
A calm, compassionate approach when communicating with patients and families
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a care team
Comfort learning electronic health records, scheduling systems, and Microsoft Office programs
Experience in healthcare scheduling, patient access, administrative support, or customer service
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with medical scheduling or patient coordination
Knowledge of medical terminology
Experience working in palliative medicine, Hospice, oncology, specialty care, or another healthcare setting
Experience coordinating schedules for multiple providers or departments
Familiarity with electronic health records or healthcare scheduling systems
Previous Palliative Medicine or Hospice experience is helpful, but we also welcome candidates who bring strong scheduling, administrative, or customer-service experience and a willingness to learn.
