Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director, Communications & Content Strategy provides operational leadership for the development, execution and evaluation of integrated communications strategies supporting the HonorHealth Research Institute. The role leads strategic content development, media relations, digital communications, and brand storytelling while supervising communications staff and fostering collaboration across research, clinical and administrative partners. This position is responsible for advancing awareness of the Research Institute through effective communication strategies, measurable outcomes, and adherence to organizational brand standards and communications best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Leadership & Operational Management:
Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and performance management for assigned communications staff.
Provide communications guidance, media training and subject matter expertise to leaders, staff and collaborators.
Represent the Research Institute at internal meetings and external professional conferences, as assigned.
Communications Strategy & Content Leadership:
Develop, implement and evaluate integrated communications and content strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Lead editorial planning and oversee content calendars, workflow management and content governance.
Write, edit and approve communication materials including news stories, press releases, annual reports, newsletters, website content, presentations, brochures, impact reports, social media content and executive messaging.
Support communication planning and content development for organizational events and special initiatives.
Media Relations & Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the primary operational lead for media relations by developing media opportunities, responding to media inquiries and supporting interviews with researchers and organizational leaders.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with researchers, physicians, organizational leaders, media representatives and community stakeholders.
Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement:
Monitor communications performance using analytics and metrics; prepare reports and recommend strategy improvements based on results.
Identify emerging communications trends, technologies and best practices and recommend process improvements.
Governance & Compliance:
Ensure communications comply with organizational branding standards, legal review requirements, Associated Press (AP) Style, and established editorial guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION Bachelors Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Communications or related field Required
EXPERIENCE 5 years, Progressive communications, journalism, public relations or healthcare communications experience. Required
3 years, Leadership or supervisory experience. Required
