Role Purpose
The Assistant Manager – Health & Safety will be responsible for implementing and monitoring health and safety programs at plant. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with safety standards, mitigating operational risks, and fostering a strong safety culture across all manufacturing activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Program Implementation
Develop and execute safety programs for warehouse operations, including: Working at Height safety protocols.
Material Handling & Storage best practices.
Fire Safety systems and emergency preparedness.
Pedestrian Safety Management within warehouse premises.
PPE Compliance Monitoring for all employees and contractors.
2. Legal Compliance
Ensure adherence to all statutory health and safety regulations applicable to manufacturing operations.
Maintain updated compliance records and support internal/external audits.
3. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
Conduct regular risk assessments for plant activities.
Implement corrective and preventive measures for identified hazards.
4. Incident Management
Drive transparent reporting of incidents and near misses.
Investigate incidents thoroughly and implement corrective actions.
Share learnings to prevent recurrence.
5. Training & Awareness
Conduct safety induction and refresher training for employees and contractors.
Promote safety awareness through campaigns and toolbox talks.
6. Emergency Preparedness
Implement fire safety systems and conduct evacuation drills.
Coordinate medical emergency preparedness, including first aid and hospital tie-ups.
7. Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor compliance with PPE usage and pedestrian safety protocols.
Prepare and submit monthly safety performance reports to Head – Health & Safety.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Safety / Environment or related field.
Professional certifications in Health & Safety (CLI/RLI, NEBOSH, IOSH, etc.) preferred.
5–8 years of experience in Health & Safety
Strong knowledge of material handling safety, fire safety, and legal compliance.
Skills & Competencies
Excellent understanding of warehouse safety standards.
Strong communication and training skills.
Ability to influence and engage operational teams.
Analytical mindset with proficiency in MS Office and safety reporting tools.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Achieve H&S KPI ( RIR, HMS, HRG & GPWI)
Zero major incidents in warehouse operations.
100% compliance with PPE and pedestrian safety protocols.
Timely completion of safety audits and legal compliance checks.
Successful execution of emergency drills and training programs.
