The Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. Introduction to Hedge Fund Solutions & BlackRock Manager Research
Hedge Fund Solutions (“HFS”) and BlackRock Manager Research (“BMR”) work together to deliver BlackRock’s hedge fund solutions platform. With over $39 billion under management, HFS provides hedge fund solutions to a broad array of institutional clients through commingled and custom fund structures. HFS client portfolios primarily allocate to third-party hedge funds that have been sourced and approved via BMR manager underwriting & diligence processes.
Position Overview
BlackRock is seeking a candidate to join the HFS Core Portfolio Management (“HFS Core PM”) team in New York City, where they will be part of a global team responsible for a wide array of portfolio management activities. The HFS Core PM team is responsible for implementing investment decisions across HFS client portfolios, the HFS governance model, and works to enhance the HFS platform’s partnership with Aladdin and other partner teams.
Desired qualities include proficient analytical and quantitative skills, plus a demonstrated capacity to work with various internal & external teams. The successful candidate will possess outstanding attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and have a passion for thinking critically.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with HFS Portfolio Managers on investment implementation & execution including investment guideline compliance monitoring, cash & liquidity management, and interfund transfers
Anticipate and resolve operational issues (e.g., trade execution, settlement, portfolio compliance, hedging, etc.) arising during the investment evaluation process
Build and uphold relationships with key BlackRock partner teams (e.g., legal, tax, trading operations, compliance, pricing & valuation, cash reconciliations, derivative operations, fund administration, technology teams and others);
Assist with project management related to the structural and operational components of product launches and ongoing product management
Assist with establishing trading & financing infrastructure for new and existing products through coordination with financing counterparties, internal teams, and external hedge fund managers
Acquire knowledge of the full scope of various investment management functions, especially the needs & impacts for team members involved in both upstream and downstream activities
Experience / Key Qualifications
Outstanding academic credentials; preferably a degree in a quantitative field (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, or similar)
Experience in portfolio management or related role desired, with accompanying knowledge in relevant subject areas such as markets, trading, or similar
Strong working knowledge of a range of instruments and markets such as private and/or public funds, derivatives, FX, cash instruments, equities or credit markets
Familiarity with Aladdin portfolio management tools is highly valued
Flexible, responsive and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment
Strong process awareness and sense of accountability and ownership in recognizing and addressing risks
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to coordinate across a variety of functions around the firm

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
