As a Behavioral Health provider at SHC, you will provide integrated behavioral healthcare, risk and safety assessments, and support for patients in need of and or seeking out behavioral health services. The vision of SHC is to facilitate access to comprehensive preventive, primary, and mental healthcare for Multnomah County school-age youth to keep them healthy and ready to learn. The Program operates 9 SHCs in coordination with five school districts: David Douglas, Parkrose, Centennial, Reynolds, and Portland Public Schools, and the Behavior Health Division’s School Based Mental Health program.
This is a permanent .8 FTE position (40 hrs/wk and school winter, spring, and summer breaks off) with Student Health Centers (SHC) providing a patient facing BH clinical practice at two SHCS. You will receive healthcare benefits (Medical/Vision, Dental, free TriMet bus pass, and many more!).
The position requires the applicant to be either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW),Licensed professional counselor(LPC) or Psychologist in the state of Oregon.

As the Clinical Service Specialist , you will:
Provide evidence-based behavioral health services to health center patient populations
Provide brief (10-20 min), solution focused behavioral interventions with active development of Behavioral Change planning for patients referred to Behavioral Health via Medical Providers.
Provide mental health assessment, diagnosis, and brief evidenced-based psychotherapy usually lasting from 1-6 visits per episode of care to Primary Care patients with mental health and addictions problems across the lifespan.
Function as a clinical member of the health center's clinical teams
Act as health center's behavioral health expert and provide effective professional consultation
Improve population health outcomes by ensuring K-12 school age clients have access to behavioral health expertise as a usual part of primary care
Provide diagnostic assessment using the DSM, functional analysis, and risk assessment
Provide evidence-based cognitive, behavioral, and motivational interventions to health center clients with mental health concerns and health compromising behaviors
Identify the need for and support client referrals and care management needs
Responsible for relationship building with internal facing cross departmental and school partners and stakeholders.

Required Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as noted below. All non-traditional education,training and experience will be evaluated.
Equivalent to a Master's degree in social work, psychology or counseling
Two (2) years of professional work experience as a counselor, mental health treatment professional, social worker or therapist
