Cancer Registrar-Certified, East Tennessee Cancer Registry
Full time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift
Position is home based but in person meetings are sometimes required.

Position Summary:
The Certified Cancer Registrar should possess the technical knowledge and skills necessary to maintain the components of cancer-related data collections systems in a manner consistent with all requirements of the health care delivery system; medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory.
Responsibilities
Maintain independent off-site cancer registry
Organizes and staffs cancer conferences
Staffing for cancer committee
Liaison to physicians
Processes, maintains compiles, and reports health information data for
Research
Quality assessment
Facility Planning
Marketing
Physician information
Abstracts and codes clinical data using appropriate classification systems
Stages cancer patients according to AJCC and SEER staging systems
Handles day-to-day operation of the registry
Attends meetings and serves on committees or teams as required
Completes patient care evaluation studies with survival data
Collection and preparation of registry statistics
Monitors quality assessment program
Cancer abstracting for Tennessee State Reporting System contracting facilities
Travel as necessary to contracting facilities
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Three (3) Years Cancer Registry Experience. Good computer skills, good communication skills, medical terminology and anatomy and physiology.
Licensure Requirement:
Cert Tumor Registrar (CTUR) is required. Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
