Position Summary :
This position partners with business leaders to provide strategic and operational Human Resources guidance, consultation, and thought leadership on workforce planning, talent management, employee engagement, and organizational development initiatives. The role serves as a key liaison in executing people strategies, conducting workforce supply and demand analyses to support annual and ongoing staffing and budget requirements, and leading critical HR processes, including performance management, compensation planning, incentive programs, and annual benefits enrollment activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
Serves as the primary HR leader for assigned client groups leading the full team member lifecycle, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, development, performance, engagement, retention, and offboarding.
Manage core people operations processes, including benefits administration, HR compliance, policy interpretation, employee relations, and HR system data integrity.
Builds relationships with business leaders to offer thought leadership on organizational and people-related strategy and execution.
Partner with business leaders to provide strategic and tactical Human Resources guidance in support of organizational goals, workforce planning, employee engagement, and operational effectiveness.
Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on employee relations matters, policy interpretation, performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
Coach and develop leaders on effective people management practices, including performance coaching, accountability, talent development, and employee engagement strategies.
Conduct workplace investigations and provide recommendations that ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and organizational standards.
Support and facilitate performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, and succession planning initiatives.
Collaborate with leaders to identify staffing needs, organizational challenges, and workforce trends, and develop solutions that support business objectives.
Diagnose gaps between current and desired organization performance and deploy actions to resolve gaps, including organization redesign, process change, coaching and training.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and tribal regulations concerning employment.
Maintains data in HCM system to facilitate organization charts, updated employee information and an accurate compendium.
Oversees compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and Health Care Reform Act (HCRA) administration to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
Ensures departments comply with company policies, procedures and employment laws as well as ensuring that fairness and consistency is maintained; resolves employee issues in accordance with policies.
Assists management in the proper interpretation and application of company policies and consistent application of discipline procedures.
Provides guidance to departments to create and manage employee performance improvement plans.
Investigates and documents employee complaints and grievances to ensure compliance and a fair resolution.
Recommends, reviews and processes employee discipline and terminations.
Manages specialized projects (i.e., licensing review, policy review and surveys).
Is the initial employee contact for problem resolution in health insurance, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, voluntary benefits, and 401(k)/retirement issues.
Accurately communicates all benefits programs (i.e., life insurance, short-term disability, long term disability, flexible spending accounts, etc.) to employees.
Assists and advises department leadership regarding compensation matters related to employee compensation, FLSA, and DOL compliance.
Monitors state employment laws and regulations to ensure ongoing organizational compliance across all jurisdictions where employees are located.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Stay current on industry and best practices
Evaluate area of responsibility for continuous improvement opportunities and develops plans to implement process improvements
Write, implement, and interpret company policies, procedures, and Federal employment law as it applies to Mohegan jurisdictions and to a Sovereign Nation
Facilitate the annual license renewal process for Commission, State and Key licenses
Run all necessary reports using HCM software
Participate in the development and implementation of all Team Member award and recognition programs
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field
Five years of progressive Human Resources experience including supervisory and/or management responsibilities in a high-volume environment
Three years of demonstrated experience in benefits administration, vendor management, policy development/interpretation, compensation, recruitment, and employee relations
Demonstrated experience partnering with business leaders to provide strategic and tactical Human Resources consultation, guidance, and solutions
Experience conducting workplace investigations and providing recommendations that balance business objectives, compliance requirements, and employee needs
HRIS experience required, preferably with Workday
Demonstrated experience and strong working knowledge of HR/Payroll functions, programs, and processes
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Knowledge of Mohegan Family Medical Leave Ordinance (MFMLO) law administration
