Agency Adult Correction Division COO - Operations Job Classification Title Correctional Case Manager (S) Position Number 60072990 Grade NC07 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor at a minimum custody male correctional facility, this position works in the Programs Department carrying a caseload of offenders. Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Providing supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following-up on offenders’ questions and concerns as well as making recommendations to the classifications committee. 2. Communicating effectively with other staff, offenders and the general public and working under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders, who can become physically violent and verbally abusive. 3. Performing crisis interventions to include suicide prevention. 4. Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, work release, education or recreation, as well as transition planning and coordinating. 5. Preparing written reports with accurately reflect date reviewed by various sources, reviewing, analyzing and evaluating various documents and behavior data gathered form interviews, written documentation and personal observation. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments. This is a  full-time position  (40 hours per week) with established working hours and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need. About Randolph Correctional Center Randolph Correctional Center is a 226-bed minimum custody male facility located in Asheboro, NC, Randolph County. Randolph Community College works with the prison to provide adult education and preparation for GED test for offenders. Offenders may also be assigned to work in various capacities, such as a maintenance worker, librarian, recreation clerk, barber, canteen operator, or as clothes house or kitchen help at the prison.
