It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences This position is located at Greene Correctional Institution, a minimum custody facility housing 656 offenders. This position provides supervision for subordinate staff, conducts shift line-up, makeshift assignments and inspects all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. This position will also complete, review and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms. This position will account for persons and funds and ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready, identify training needs and coordinate delivery of training to subordinate staff as well as conduct investigations, develop prison operational, emergency plans and post orders. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences: $45,431.00-$79,504.00 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Documented supervisory skills in a prison facility. Knowledge of facility operations. Knowledge of Prisons’ policy and procedures. Documented report writing skills. About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
