Counsel, Litigation & Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Job Description: Dimensional's   Legal   division   is an in-house team of client-focused attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants who partner with internal and external teams to help provide legal   expertise   across business functions, legal systems, and   jurisdictions .    This   position requires subject matter   expertise   in   litigation and the le gal complexities surrounding artificial intelligence .     Counsel will   a ssist   the Legal Department and the firm, including its non-U.S. offices, with day-to-day regulatory and litigation legal needs in the investment adviser and mutual fund area of law (including Federal and State as well as international securities law analysis and compliance) .   Additionally, the position will advise the company on legal and regulatory risks as   they relate to the integration of AI   systems .    Responsibilities:   Oversee aspects of litigation related matters (respond to subpoenas, conduct document collections, review, and productions, prepare witnesses for depositions, review   pleadings   and briefs, etc.). Review and evaluate litigation, litigation opportunities, and litigation risk in various domestic and international jurisdictions.   Work with and oversee outside counsel on a variety of legal matters, ensuring that standards for   service   delivery and cost are controlled efficiently.   Work with   client   service s   and sales   departments   to respond to client and prospective client inquiries   regarding   litigation and regulatory inquiries.   Contribute to the development of practical controls, policies,   governance,   and   general practices   for AI.   Review ,   advise on , and manage   legal and regulatory risks of proposed uses of AI and AI tools .     Lead the development of a global approach to AI governance and responsible use.    Advise   on   evolving AI regulation, including the EU AI Act and other AI statutes. Develop   responses to AI-related inquiries from regulators, clients, and other third parties.    Perform   additional   responsibilities in the Legal Department as requested.   Qualifications:   Six plus years   of   practicing law   with   domestic and international securities or financial services litigation experience . Preferably with   a top-tier law firm, with a regulator or   in the legal department of a broker dealer and/or investment adviser.    Experience with e-discovery.   Experience using AI tools in a legal environment.   Experience developing AI processes and policies.   Excellent verbal and written   communication skills , as well as   an ability to communicate with non-lawyer business partners in a clear and understandable way.    Detail oriented and organized.   Able to work well in a team environment.   Self-starter who   can manage   multiple   time-sensitive   projects   involving different business and support groups on a cross-functional basis.   Proficient   in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) .
