Must have skills : Red Hat OpenShift Good to have skills : Linux Minimum 7.5 year(s) of experience is required Educational Qualification : 15 years full time education Summary: The primary purpose of the IT Container Platform Systems Engineer (m/w/d) is to operate, maintain, and ensure the reliability of scalable container platforms supporting Kuehne + Nagel s global logistics operations. The role is responsible for ensuring seamless integration of container technologies with existing IT infrastructure to maintain stable and efficient platform operations across cloud environments. It focuses on the execution and oversight of deployment processes, resource utilization, and platform performance to ensure continuous availability and service stability. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to support application operations and ensure alignment with organizational standards and operational requirements. Additionally, the role supports the organization s sustainability objectives by maintaining energy efficient and resource-conscious IT platform operations. Roles & Responsibilities: Operates and maintains highly available Kubernetes clusters, ensuring stable and reliable platform performance across all environments. Monitors cluster health and workload performance, responding to incidents and resolving issues to maintain service continuity. Implement automation for deployment, scaling, and management of container platforms to improve efficiency and high availability. Manages and optimizes Kubernetes resource utilization, including compute, memory, and storage, to balance performance and cost efficiency. Enforces security, access controls, and compliance requirements within Kubernetes environments. Performs backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations to ensure platform resilience and data protection. Diagnoses and resolves complex issues across Kubernetes clusters, including networking, performance, and system-level failures. Develops and maintains CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows to automate deployments and operational processes. Evaluates and adopts emerging technologies and evolving Kubernetes patterns to continuously improve the platform. Designs and manages persistent storage solutions, including CSI drivers and stateful workload architectures. Professional & Technical Skills: Holds a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a strong focus on cloud computing and container technologies. Demonstrates deep expertise in Kubernetes architecture, APIs, control plane internals and Docker/Podman, with experience in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Mastery in managing Kubernetes and OpenShift cluster lifecycle using infrastructure-as code and automation practices Established experience in networking concepts, including CNI plugins, service connectivity, ingress configurations and protocols to ensure seamless operations. Expertise in managing persistent storage solutions within Kubernetes, including provisioning, configuration, and operation of stateful workloads and CSI-based storage. Proficiency in cluster security controls, including RBAC and policy engines Knowledge of optimization, scaling, and ensuring the reliability and availability of containerized workloads running on Kubernetes. Expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, automated, and consistent application deployments. Proficient in administering container registries (e.g., Harbor), including image lifecycle management, access control, vulnerability scanning, and secure distribution of container artifacts. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack is beneficial for maintaining the health and performance of the Kubernetes environment. Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Go is crucial for automating tasks and managing infrastructure efficiently. Exhibits strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic environment, contributing to the company's digital ecosystem development. Communicates effectively, leads technical initiatives, and mentors engineers across cross-functional teams.
