Department: Center for Information Technology Cybersecurity Department's Website: www.cji.edu www.cybersecuritydefenseinitiative.org Summary of Job Duties: The Criminal Justice Institute’s Cybersecurity Instructor is responsible for increasing student learning through: 1. The development of a relevant and progressive curriculum focused on the needs of information technology (IT) practitioners, both in the public and private sector. 2. The design and implementation of effective learning strategies and environments. 3. Delivering high-quality instruction and presenting lesson plans on scheduled class days in an engaging and well-communicated manner. 4. Supporting various learning styles by providing several strategies for consuming the same content (ex: slides, lecturing, videos, and/or readings). 5. Providing students with additional support and guidance when asked. 6. Adjusting course outlines on an annual basis to ensure information is up-to-date and relevant. Qualifications: 1. Subject Matter Expert in the area of instruction. 2. Previous instructional experience. 3. At least five years’ experience in Information Technology with some experience teaching in a classroom and/or field of instruction. 4. Satisfactory background check (certified law enforcement and school administrators excluded). 5. Agreement of terms and conditions of Lecturer/Instructor employment agreement. 6. Ability to travel to instruction site. 7. A minimum of an Associate’s is required for all degree program courses. 8. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Director of the Criminal Justice Institute.   Additional Information: The Criminal Justice Institute’s (CJI) Cybersecurity Defense Initiative (CDI) is a national cybersecurity training program funded since 2004 by the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, National Training and Education Division, (DHS/FEMA/NTED). As one of the founding members of the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium (NCPC), cybersecurity training developed and delivered by CDI through NCPC funding is made available to information technology (IT) practitioners, both in the public and private sector, who are responsible for securing computer networks or responding to any type of cyber-based attack against these networks. Training prepares students to prevent or greatly reduce the risk of a cyber-based attack against their network and provides guidance on how to respond more effectively or recover from a cyber-attack. Classes are delivered at no cost throughout the country.  Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience.
