JOB SUMMARY  The Dental Assistant provides exemplary patient care and assists dentists during examination and treatment of patients. This position also prepares clinical areas, instruments, and materials, provides imaging services, and utilizes four-handed dentistry . This position involves periodontal charting and instructs patients in oral hygiene and have a firm grasp of dental procedures. The Dental Assistant will p rofessionally communicate with the Dental Assistant team, faculty, and residents, while providing exemplary patient care.   PRIMARY JOB RESPONSBILITIES Utilize s special solutions and sterilization bags ; d ispose s of biohazard accordingly and maintai n s infection control Prepares operatories and instrument trays for procedures for multiple disciplines Reviews schedule for each discipline to properly prepare for the day ; m inimal periodontal charting Cleans , oi l s , and sterilize s equipment Performs other duties as assigned   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES   Excellent communications skills Team player and ability to multi-task Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology Ability to operate dental equipment Ability to provide imaging services Ability to maintain infection control and sterilization of dental equipment Abil ity to maint ain pati ent confidentiality in ac cordance with HIPP A policy   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS   High School Diploma or the equivalent Six months of experience or training as a dental assistant   PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)   Hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
