JOB DESCRIPTION JOB SUMMARY The Advocate Health National Center for Clinical Trials (NCCT) is setting a new benchmark for excellence and innovation in clinical research, healthcare data, and evidence generation. Our goal is simple yet bold: leverage the scale, diversity, and longitudinal clinical insights of Advocate Health to accelerate research, generate meaningful real-world evidence, and improve healthcare outcomes. NCCT partners with life sciences organizations to deliver data-driven solutions that support drug development, regulatory decision-making, market access, and patient-centered innovation.
Grounded in experience and supported by the integrated research expertise of Wake Forest University School of Medicine, the Advocate Health National Center for Clinical Trials offers a first-of-its-kind platform that combines research operations, clinical expertise, and large-scale healthcare data assets. Through advanced analytics, research infrastructure, and access to diverse patient populations, NCCT enables sponsors to generate high-quality evidence across the product lifecycle.
The Director, Real-World Evidence & Data Solutions Business Development serves a key leadership role in advancing NCCT's mission by identifying, cultivating, and securing strategic partnerships focused on real-world data (RWD), real-world evidence (RWE), health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), observational studies, and other data-enabled research services. This individual will report to the Head of Commercial for NCCT, serving as a player-coach responsible for key accounts while helping develop and scale a growing commercial team focused on healthcare data and evidence generation solutions.
The Director will work across Business Development, Research Operations, Informatics, Analytics, Compliance, and Executive Leadership to drive growth, enhance market visibility, and expand NCCT's portfolio of real-world evidence and data services.
EXPERIENCE • Experience establishing large, complex strategic partnerships within the healthcare data, life sciences, research, or healthcare analytics industries.
• Proven track record of closing significant commercial agreements with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, digital health, or healthcare services organizations.
• Experience selling real-world evidence, healthcare data, analytics, research services, HEOR, or related solutions.
• Experience working with academic medical centers, integrated health systems, research organizations, or healthcare data platforms.
• Strong leadership acumen with proven experience mentoring and developing business development professionals.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Strategic Partnership Development
• Manage key accounts to expand NCCT's Real-World Evidence & Data Solutions portfolio.
• Identify new partnership opportunities focused on RWE, observational research, healthcare analytics, patient insights, data licensing, and evidence generation services.
• Develop strategic relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, digital health, consulting, and healthcare organizations.
Sales Operations
• Oversee the reporting and progress of a robust business development pipeline.
• Drive achievement of annual revenue, growth, and partnership objectives for the RWE&D business segment.
Collaboration and Coordination
• Work cross-functionally with NCCT leadership, research teams, informatics, analytics, legal, finance, compliance, privacy, and information security teams.
• Align commercial strategy with Advocate Health's broader research and innovation priorities.
Market Intelligence
• Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities in RWE, RWD, healthcare analytics, HEOR, AI, and evidence generation.
• Represent NCCT at industry conferences, sponsor meetings, and professional events.
Proposal Development
• Lead the creation of tailored proposals, statements of work, presentations, and commercial agreements.
• Support pricing strategy and contract negotiations.
Relationship Management
• Foster long-term relationships with sponsors, healthcare innovators, and strategic partners.
• Identify opportunities for repeat business and portfolio expansion.
Performance Metrics
• Develop, track, and report KPIs related to pipeline growth, bookings, revenue generation, partner satisfaction, and strategic account development.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Additional Duties
• Collaborate across research, analytics, informatics, clinical, operational, and administrative domains.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Life Sciences, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or commercial leadership roles.
• 10+ years of experience in healthcare, life sciences, clinical research, healthcare analytics, or related industries.
• 5+ years of experience using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
• Familiarity with healthcare data assets, research methodologies, healthcare analytics, and evidence generation processes.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare research regulations, privacy requirements, and industry best practices.
• Strategic leader with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Strong collaboration, influence, and communication skills.
• Highly developed organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead complex strategic initiatives.
