Job Description Great Basin College (GBC) is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and student-centered professionals to join the Child and Family Center as Early Childhood Educators. Eight (8) full-time, 12-month administrative faculty positions are available. These positions are located in Elko, Nevada, on the main campus and report to the Great Basin College Child and Family Center Director. Early Childhood Educators are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while developing and implementing curriculum in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the Great Basin College Child and Family Center, NAEYC, Nevada Silver State Stars QRIS, and the Pyramid Model. Educators collaborate with colleagues, enhance curriculum and lesson plans, and participate in ongoing professional development. This is a Non-Tenure Track, “A” (12 Month) Contract Qualifications Associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or completion of 24 credits in ECE/HDFS classes with three years of teaching experience. Three to five years of Early Childhood Education classroom experience; Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills; Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office Suite and Smart Boards; Demonstrated organizational, planning, analytical and problem solving skills; Demonstrated ability to respond, make decisions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever changing environment; Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation requirement, Nevada Silver State Stars QRIS, ECERS/ITERS and Pyramid Model Responsibilities Oversee and participate in caring for the children’s well-being and safety; Provide and create lesson plans, which stimulate the development of age appropriate cognitive and social skills, which include communication, emergent reading, writing, math, science, social studies, creative art, fine and gross motor development; Implement and teach the Pre-Kindergarten Standards through appropriate activities in the classroom; Set-up and maintain an age-appropriate, center-based learning environment which meets the requirements of NAEYC Accreditation, as well as the TACSEI TPOT and ECCERS assessments.  Conduct teacher/parent conferences twice a year. Organize monthly parent/teacher trainings or activities a minimum of once a month. Prepare and send home “Homework on Wheels” with each child once a month. Instruct a full day preschool session for 3-4 year old children, which operates Monday through Friday with 20 students enrolled in the class.  Work a minimum of 40 hours per week under the supervision of the Great Basin College Child and Family Center Director. Model attitudes, behaviors, and techniques which contribute to the overall harmonious operation of the program; Promote positive public relations with all contacts within and outside of the Child Family Center; Other duties appropriate to the position as assigned by the Director. Participate in college committees and activities as appropriate or assigned. Follow all guidelines as required by the Great Basin College Child and Family Center Staff Handbook, and adhere to all licensing standards as set forth by the Nevada Bureau of Services for Child Care.
