Description of Work Early Intervention Service Coordinators (EISCs) are the heart of Early Intervention! They provide service coordination for children in the North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program (NCITP) and support to their families and caregivers. Research shows that birth to three is a critical period for working with families to support their competence and confidence as their child’s first and most important teacher. EISC duties include: - Working with families and team members to develop functional Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs). - Working with multi-disciplinary teams to determine families’ needs for supports and services. - Conducting home visits. - Coordinating services, such as speech and physical therapy. - Arranging and monitoring other early intervention services. - Planning for transition to other services at age three. The North Carolina Early Intervention Section (NCEIS) is a part of the Division of Child and Family Well-Being. The NCEIS is the lead agency for the NCITP which provides supports and services for families and their children, birth to three, who have developmental delays. Children's Developmental Services Agencies (CDSAs) are the local agencies that implement the NCITP across North Carolina, working with local service providers to help families help their children succeed. This Early Intervention Service Coordinator position is located at the Craven County office of the New Bern CDSA. The New Bern CDSA serves children and families that reside in Carteret, Craven, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, and Pamlico Counties. This position will require traveling in this six-county catchment area. The Division of Child and Family Well-Being focuses on supporting whole child and family health and well-being for North Carolinians. This division works to ensure that North Carolina’s children grow up safe, healthy and thriving in nurturing and resilient families and communities. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $37,377 - $65,408 Recruitment Range: $37,377 - $50,856 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.   The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred: • Experience working with children in the age range Birth to age 3 and their families, including children with developmental delays. • Working knowledge of young child development, including developmental milestones. • Experience working with and collaborating with families and other professionals. Knowledge of evidence-based practices used in working with young children and families, such as natural learning environment practices and caregiver coaching. Physical Requirements (If Applicable): Light work with some physical lifting. This work also requires the ability to participate in activities that are developmentally appropriate to infants and toddlers. Physical effort also includes being able to get up and down from the floor in clinic and family home environments, lifting and carrying young children, and travel/driving car to home visits within the 6-county catchment area.
