ED Clinical Coordinator

Summary Job Description: ED Clinical Coordinator Part-Time I Second Shift Emergency Department I Lexington, KY An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.   Description: Clinical Coordinator role assumes entry-level and clinical leadership and accountability for nursing care team operations while maintaining responsibility defined in the RN job description. As a coordinator, this role provides ongoing coordination of unit-level activities supporting excellence in professional nurse practice environment, evidence-based care delivery and related nursing, patient, and family-centered outcomes in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team as identified by the director. Identifies, coordinates, and collaborates for process improvement opportunities at the care team, care center, and organizational levels. Participates in both clinical and entry level leadership activities to ensure service-oriented, quality, effective, safe continuity of patient care such as unit-based Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QA/PI) initiatives and development of improvement action plan. Promotes the use of best practice by promoting the use of evidence-based nursing/best practices throughout the unit. Acts as a consultant in the development and implementation of the efficient and interdisciplinary patient's plan of care. Supports quality improvement initiatives, under the direction of the unit director while assuring consistent delivery in (including direct observation) standards of practice for optimal patient outcomes. Demonstrates effective communication with patient, family, Physicians, Other staff, and Director. Maintains clinical competencies and can provide direct nursing care to patients as needed. Actively participates in nursing research activities within the facility. Collaborates with Staff and Management to support compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies and the Accreditation Commission for Healthcare. Requirements:   Bachelor’s degree. 3 years of experience. Active KY Registered Nurse License. ACLS. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
