Pay Range: $34.82 - $42.83 Hourly Department: Department of Community Services (DCS) Job Type: Regular Represented Exemption Status: United States of America (Non-Exempt) Closing Date (Open Until Filled if No Date Specified): July 25, 2026 The Opportunity: *only apply for this position once* OVERVIEW The Department of Community Services (DCS), Survey Section is looking for a full-time Engineering Technician 2! As part of DCS, the Multnomah County Survey Section is responsible for restoring and maintaining Public Land Corners, reviewing, filing and indexing work submitted by land surveyors and providing survey support for capital improvement and other county projects.  We’re seeking an experienced survey technician to work in the field and the office in support of surveying work. We are looking for candidates with the ability to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment that have exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills. This position is an exceptional opportunity for a fully qualified professional that is proficient in performing surveying duties and who also has the ability to supervise survey staff in the absence of the crew leader. Your main duties will include: Operate, adjust and maintain survey instruments and help train survey personnel in the use of equipment Search and locate public land corners, check and reset public land corners as needed. Perform moderately complex survey computations in support of projects Set and verify survey monumentation relating to plat checks and road legalization before entering in the public record Perform research, computations, review, and drafting support on public land corner and other projects as assigned Who We Are DCS’s mission is to preserve harmony between natural and built environments, keep people and pets safe, and ensure every voice is heard through a unique group of programs including transportation, land use planning, animal services, elections and operations support. Minimum  Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: Equivalent to an Associate degree from an accredited college with major course work in engineering or surveying technology, construction management, or related field; AND Two years of increasingly responsible experience survey technology or civil engineering Valid driver license Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify.
